By the by, we had a good overnight T-storm which dropped nearly one inch of rain on the vast gardens. I know this for sure as I checked my rain gauge first thing this morning.
The sun will rise tomorrow @ 6:05 a.m. and set later @ 0:26 p.m.
I will only say this about baseball today. The 23 - 40 Cubs were edged out by the 41 - 24 Padres, 4 - 6. Tomorrow, Cubs manager David Ross, who received a vote of confidence from Jed Hoyer earlier today, will send RHP Keegan Thompson, 6 - 2, to the mound to face the 37 - 27 Braves @ 2:20 p.m.
My beloved 34 - 30 Red Sox fell to the 22- 43 As earlier today, 3 - 4. Tomorrow, the Sox face the 37 - 28 Cardinals in a game that begins in Fenway Park @ 7:10 p.m. with RHP Michael Wacha, 4 - 1, on the bump for a 7:10 p.m. start.
The 24 - 38 Tigers with rookie RHP Beau Brieske, 1 - 5, having held the 29 - 31 Rangers to no runs over seven innings ended tonight's game with a 1 - 3 loss. Those same two teams play again tomorrow @ 7:10 p.m. when RHP Tarik Skibal, 5 - 3, goes for the Tigers.
The Caps are in the bottom of the 7th, behind, 9 - 13 to the Chiefs in Peoria, IL. Things are not looking good for the Caps. They play the Chiefs again tomorrow night @ 7:35 p.m.
It was a great day to go walkabout for Mary and Ginger to the waterfront and back early this morning. STWD and I only took our usual short sojourn. Later, after we did more ear reading and worked on a couple of crossword puzzles, we decided to take a photo safari to the Lake Forest Cemetery here in GH. I have hookd into a group called Michigan Historic Graveyards, for people like yours truly who like to take pix in graveyards. So, with Ginger riding shotgun with me and after stops at the library and our auxiliary gardens we were off to the Lake Forest Cemetery.
Mary and Ginger mostly soloed on the cemetery grounds, while I also soloed to take some pix of the various monuments to be found there. Here are some random pix.
At the edge of the cemetery, is this plot for the Schmidt family. |
Mostly, I took pix in this area. |
This marker dates to the late 1800s. |
Interesting as a group. |
Or individually. |
Same here. |
And here. |
Near the area reserved for the Ferry Family, this black squirrel was visiting. |
Otherwise, much of our afternoon was reserved for the J6 Select Committee hearings. We are like moths to a flame, drawn in to see what happens next.
Our plans for tomorrow call for more ear-reading, more cross-stitching, more reading of conventional paper novels and newspapers, more crossword solving, and more long-distance walking for Ginger and Mary while STWD and I do our usual two blocks. I hope to get in my inaugural bike ride too. Ciao.
