Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be, across the nation and across the world. It is just past 3:30 p.m. in "The City."

In spite of the forecast from the NWS, the 67° high temperature today under mostly-cloudy skies is really 67° under mostly sunny skies. Go figure. The 12 mph wind out of the southwest, makes it feel like 67°. Our overnight low tonight will drop to 56° before we rebound to tomorrow's high temperature of 69° under, wait for it, mostly-cloudy skies.

I can accurately report that we had 3/4" of rainfall Wednesday which our vast gardens greatly appreciated. My local report is based on the amount of rainwater collected in my newest weather instrument, a rain gauge, located in our rose garden.

I know that the sun rose this morning @ 6:05 a.m. and will be setting tonight @ 9:24 p.m.

As an aside, we are forecast to go from the very pleasant temperatures we have been experiencing lately and heading into the 80° plus range for several days.

I am going to start the baseball report by stating that both the Cubs and the Tigers were off yesterday, while the Red Sox were topped in Anaheim by the Angels, 2 - 5. The Caps were washed away by the Lugnuts last night, 2 - 16. The 24 - 29 Caps and the 20 - 33 Lugnuts are in the LMCU Ballpark tonight for game one of a doubleheader that begins @ 5:35 p.m. Game two is scheduled to follow shortly after the end of game one.

The 23 - 33 Cubs are in NYC tonight to face the powerful 41 - 16 Yankees in a game that begins @ 7:05 p.m. EDT with LHP Wade Miley, 0 - 1, making the start for the Cubs.

The 30 - 28 Red Sox move on to Seattle for a game tonight versus the 26 - 31 Mariners beginning @ 10:10 p.m. with LHP Rich Hill, 2 - 3, making his next start for the Sox. In spite of now being over .500, the Sox are still 11.5 games behind the AL East-leading Yankees. Maybe one of these weeks, the Sox will see the return of LHP Chris Sale from the IL too. It is worthy of note, that the Sox have had a great West Coast road trip so far, so here's hoping that that continues.

The 23 - 33 Tigers are home tonight to face the 33 - 23 Toronto Blue Jays in a game set to begin @ 7:10 p.m. when RHP rookie Elvin Rodriguez, 0 - 1, takes the ball from Tiger's manager A. J. Hinch.

I haven't taken any recent pictures, but Mary and Ginger were out and took a few, so I'll add them now.

A pic of a huge hare pushing a wheelbarrow of posies.

A Blue Jay with a shoe full of posies.

A cherub in the hydrangeas.

A blowhard by a tree.

A large Chia Pet?

A girl under a Japanese maple tree.

And of course, their real destination, Duncan Woods.

Today seemed like a good day for STWD and me to take a short walkabout too. I have been reading the newspapers, working the crossword puzzles, reading a novel, and of course. blogging.

Mary has been busy in the kitchen making a vegan spicy tomato loaf and now she is cross-stitching. We are still ear-reading Dear Mrs. Bird too. In short, this is what retirement is supposed to be about.

Tomorrow, it should be time for another grill-out session and probably more watering. Also what retirement is supposed to be like. Ciao.
