Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be, across the nation and across the world. It is just past 6:15 a.m. in "The City", and in this blogosphere, where the current temperature under fair or partly cloudy skies is 76° with a wind out of the west @ 12 mph having a negligible effect on the Real Feel temperature. In Detroit, which is on the east side of the state, the current temperature is 82°. We are enjoying the effects of Lake Michigan.

The high-temperature tomorrow after sunrise @ 7:09 a.m. will reach 81°. After the sun sets @ 8:21 p.m. we expect a low temperature of 70°.

There is good news for all people of a certain age. The latest Covid-19 vaccine booster has been approved. Now we have to await shipment to our little corner of the world.

Ginger made her spa appointment earlier. Then we picked her up and moved on to the Lake Forest Cemetery and the Grand Haven State Park for some pix. I also took some additional shots here in the vast gardens of the manse too.

Sadly, these children passed all too quickly.

One side of this monument commemorates veterans of the Spanish American War of 1898.

While the opposite side is dedicated to all veterans.

Whereas this monument is to the veterans of the American Civil War.

I jumped out of the car for a shot of this unknown freighter leaving the channel

Moving slowly out into Lake Michigan, en route to her next port of call.

While not one of the largest we've seen, she was still a great sight.

When we were at the State Park around 4:15 p.m., the signs warned against swimming.

But, people were still strolling the south pier.

Ginger was just enjoying her post-spa visit.

The dunes are still very fragile in the State Park.

The channel was empty today, just this lone fisherman before the Labor Day crowds descend.

In late August/early September, our Eye Candy giant hibiscus is in full bloom.

I like this shot of a single giant bloom.

And this is one of our annuals.

Otherwise, today was mostly ear-reading, newspaper reading, crossword solving, and retirement.

A baseball and sports update as of 6:30 a.m. 9-01-2022

The Cubs closed out August on a high note, with a 7 - 5 win over the Blue Jays in Toronto. They needed to get that vibe a bit sooner this season. But, wait til next year.

The Cubs travel to St. Louis for an 8:15 p.m. Friday night game versus the Cardinals.

My beloved Red Sox will be home tonight following their win over the Twins yesterday. The Sox are scheduled to meet the Rangers @ 7:10 p.m.

The Tigers are also planning for next year too, as they show the rookies the MLB™ ropes. How many veterans will be in Detroit next season? Wait and see. But, they once again fell to the Mariners yesterday, 3 - 5. The Tigers and the Mariners close out their series today @ 1:10 p.m.

The West MI White Caps are only three games back in the MWL East, following their 6 - 4 win over the Tin Caps. The Caps and the Tin Caps play again tonight @ 7:05 p.m.

Today, I have what is hopefully my final P/T session and then I can get back to being retired on a more regular basis.

I am still painting, reading, making music, and anticipating whatever comes my way.

Mary is still stitching and ear-reading too.

By the by, today is our 49th wedding anniversary. Time flies when you are having fun. Ciao.

Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be, across the nation and across the world. It is just past 3:00 a.m. in "The City", where the current, low, and Real Feel temperatures are a very seasonal 68° with a wind out of the west @ eight mph.

Today's high temperature will reach 77° before an overnight low temperature of 68°. This isn't San Diego, CA, but temperatures like these make living in the midwest very nice.

Once again, we have two weather issues to report.

First, is a Beach Hazard Statement until 6:00 p.m. tonight for Allegan, Mason, Muskegon, Oceana, Ottawas, and Van Buren counties in Michigan. Strong waves pushed by 25 mph winds will create hazardous rip currents and waves up to five feet in height.

Not surprisingly, that leads to issue number two, a Small Craft Advisory, from St. Joseph to Manistee due to those aforementioned winds and waves.

The RHI is 78%, something that both Mary and I find makes outdoor activities, such as hiking or yard/garden work, less than ideal. But, once again, this isn't San Diego, CA. The sun will rise this morning @ 7:08 a.m. and set later @ 8:21 p.m.

Time for a big Thank You! to all my family and friends. I had a great birthday! I opted for another of Mary's special dishes, Veg a Roni, which is the homemade version of that famous faux Italian mass-produced creation. I could have had spaghettirole casserole, but a decision needed to be made and I opted for the Veg a Roni.

In any event, I made it to my ortho appointment, read two newspapers, and worked on three crossword puzzles, put some paint on canvas, played both guitar and ukulele, and enjoyed putting another birthday in the mirror. We also listened to more of book number seven in the Maggie Hope series by Susan Elia MacNeal, entitled, The Paris Spy. In other words, it was a great day.

That being said, it was not a great day in sports.

The 55 - 75 Cubs looked good for a while, then they imploded versus the 70 - 58 Blue Jays in Toronto. Cubs' RHP Marcus Stroman, returned to the place where he began his MLB career, but the bullpen, a much-ballyhooed "strength" for the Cubs, fell apart and...

I almost forgot, there is a "Waiting List" for Cubs season tickets for next year. Say what?

The Cubs and the Jays close out their series tonight @ 7:07 p.m. with TBD pitching for the Cubs.

My beloved 62 - 68 Red Sox looked awful as they dropped another to the 67 - 61 Twins, 5 - 10. RHP Michael Wacha, 9 - 1, is slated to pitch for the Sox beginning @ 7:40 p.m.

The woeful 50 - 79 Tigers, looked like an over-priced and overpaid team as RHP Matt Manning's slider was described as "less than crisp" as he served up another in a long line of losses to the 71 - 58 Mariners in Comerica Park in Detroit. Tonight's series finale begins @ 7:10 p.m. with RHP Tyler Alexander, 3 - 8, and the Tigers trying to play MLB™ level baseball.

Finally, the victorious 64 - 57 West Michigan White Caps, took one from the 47 - 73 Ft. Wayne, IN Tin Caps, 5 - 1. Tonight's game in Ft. Wayne commences @ 6:35 p.m.

Today looks to be more laid-back, as Mary takes Ginger to her spa appointment this afternoon, I enjoy a slower day, and Mary and I listen to more of our collective ear-read. I may get to more print-reading too, but I often find that in retirement, I have less need to push myself to do things that can be put off til tomorrow. Ciao.

Tuesday, August 30, 2022

Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be, across the nation and across the world. It is just past 5:30 a.m. in "The City", where the current and "Real Feel" temperatures are both 71°, with a strong wind out of the southwest @ 13 mph under partly cloudy skies. That sounds a lot like the forecast from yesterday.

We had another blow yesterday afternoon, as T-storms moved through the Tri-Cities area and forced STWD to once again repair to her hide-e-hole.

Also like yesterday, we have two concurrent alerts in effect.

First, is another Beach Hazard Statement for Allegan, Mason, Muskegon, Oceana, Ottawa, and Van Buren counties until 6:00 p.m. tonight. Strong currents and high waves have caused the DNR to recommend that swimmers stay out of the water.

We also have another Small Craft Advisory also in effect until 6:00 p.m. tonight, with winds up to 25 knots and waves up to five feet in height.

The NWS is not forecasting any more storms today, but over the previous two days period, we received about three inches of rainfall. I did not go for my P/T appointment yesterday due to the hazardous driving conditions.

The sun will rise this morning @ 7:07 a.m. and set tonight @ 8:22 p.m.

Sports news yesterday,

The 55 - 74 Cubs traveled to Toronto and lost to the 69 - 58 Blue Jays in 11 innings, 4 - 5. Rookie RHPJavier Assad looked sharp once again, as he blanked the Blue Jays during his time on the mound.

The Cubs and the Jays reprise their matchup tonight @ 7:07 p.m. with RHP Marcus Stroman, 3 - 6, on the mound for the Cubs.

My beloved 62 - 67 Red Sox game versus the 66 - 61 Twins didn't go so well for the Sox, as they fell to the Twins, 2 - 4. However, rookie RHP Brayan Bello, looked sharp for the Sox too, as he worked out of a jam and held the Twins at bay while he was in the game. The Sox and the Twins play again tonight @ 7:40 p.m. with RHP Kutter Crawford hurling for the beloved.

The Tigers entertain the Mariners in Detroit for a 7:10 p.m. start with RHP Matt Manning on the bump for the Tigers.

The Caps travel to Ft. Wayne, IN tonight, for a game this evening versus the Tin Caps @ 6:35 p.m.

Today is my birthday. I'll skip the starting date for that once-a-year event. Let's just say that I've traveled farther down the highway of life than I ever expected.

Mary gave me a wonderful card that summarizes my life very nicely. She also gifted me two magazines to foster my budding artistic endeavors in the area of water coloring. Now I have more motivation to up my game, so to speak.

I have appointment number two this afternoon for my knees. After today, I'll only have three visits to make.

I slept in yesterday after letting the fur children out and returning to bed. STWD is hanging in there and Ginger, well she is Ginger, full of the pep and vigor that is appropriate for her age.

Today looks to be a day for print-reading, collective ear-reading, crossword solving, newspaper reading, and that aforementioned doctor's appointment for me.

Mary will do her own ear-reading as well as our collective sessions too. That's enough for today. Ciao.

Monday, August 29, 2022

Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be, across the nation and across the world. It is just past 4:00 a.m. in "The City", where the current and "Real Feel" temperatures are both 72°, with a strong wind out of the southwest @14 mph under partly cloudy skies.

We had quite the blow last night, as T-storms moved through the Tri-Cities area and forced STWD to her hide-e-hole. Even in her dotage, she still knows when it is time to retreat to the bathroom for safety.

Speaking of the weather, we have two concurrent alerts in effect.

First, is a Beach Hazard Statement for Allegan, Mason, Muskegon, Oceana, Ottawa, and Van Buren counties until 11:00 p.m. tonight. Strong currents and high waves demand that swimmers stay out of the water and off of the piers.

Second, we have a Small Craft Advisory also in effect until 11:00 p.m. tonight, with wind gusts up to 25 knots and waves up to five feet in height. Yes my friends, the Surf is Up on the "Big Lake."

The NWS is forecasting that storms may return to our area later this morning around 10:00 a.m. and continue until late afternoon when I have to go for my P/T appointment.

The sun will rise this morning @ 7:06 a.m. and settonight @ 8:24 p.m.

Sports news yesterday was mostly bad, as all of my teams lost, with the exception of the Tigers, who won over the Rangers, 9 - 8.

The Cubs travel to Toronto for a game tonight versus the Blue Jays, @ 7:07 p.m. with rookie RHP Javier Assad on the mound for the Cubs, who will be leaving two players behind due to the Canadia restrictions regarding Covid-19. I do not understand the thinking of those two "professional" players over their reluctance to get vaccinated.

My beloved Red Sox head over to MN for tonight's game versus the Twins @ 7:40 p.m. with RHP Brayan Bello taking the mound for the Sox.

The Tigers had a rare win yesterday and they are off until Tuesday, when they entertain the Mariners for a 7:10 p.m. start with RHP Matt Manning on the bump forth Tigers.

The Caps fell hard yesterday, 1 - 7, to the visiting South Bend, IN Cubs, 1 - 7. The Caps travel to Lansing for a Tuesday evening game versus the Lug Nuts @ 6:35 p.m.

I almost forgot to mention that the Lions also lost, 9 - 19, to the Steelers.

Otherwise, I used my soon to be famous rain making trick early yesterday morning. I watered everything here in the vast gardens of the Palatial Estate. That guaraanteed the rain that fell later.

I also baked more of my also soon to be famous Funfetti Cookies. I had hoped to do more, but I only managed those two tasks along with walking STWD and then later participating in my Sunday night ukulele session.

Mary was far more productive, as she cross-stitched, made two meals, ear-read, and walked with Ginger down to the waterfront and back.

We collectively ear-read more of book #6 in the Maggie Hope series too. Ciao.

Sunday, August 28, 2022

Good morning or good evening, wherevcr you may be, across the nation and across the world. It is just past 4:00 a.m. in "The City", where the current temperature under clear skies is a very pleasant 67°, which corresponds with the "Real Feel" temperature of 67° propelled by a wind out of the east @ six mph.

The high temperature today is forecast by the NWS to reach 77° with an overnight low temperature of 64°, also under clear skies. The sun will rise this morning @ 7:05 a.m. before setting @ 8:26 p.m.

I got out yesterday long enough to walk STWD, but Mary and Ginger took a stroll down to the waterfront, reaching Coast Guard Station Grand Haven, before returning home. Friday and yesterday, they took some great pix of GH and our own back-forty.

Ducks.

The sign telling the parents and tourists what was going on at the Lynn Sherwood Waterfront Stadium.

Which was a volleyball tournament.

When you get out early enough, the downtown is devoid of crowds.

Not the musical fountain, but still the focal point in Central Park.

Taken late yesterday, this shows our giant Eye Candy hibiscus in full bloom.

All in all, Mary and Ginger had two great safaris and STWD and I had but one.

Yesterday in sports news was at best, so-so.

The 55 - 72 Cubs were once again outplayed by the 66 - 59 Brewers, losing 0 - 7. What can I say? Today's game between those two teams begins in Milwaukee @ 2:10 p.m. with RHP Adrian Sampson, 1 - 4, on the mound for the Cubs.

My beloved 62 - 65 Red Sox righted the ship for one day, defeating the 69 - 57 Rays, 5 - 1, behind the 11K performance of LHP Rich Hill, 6 - 5. Today's game begins in Fenway Park @ 1:35 p.m. with RHP Nick Pivetta, 9 - 9, tossing for the Sox.

The 49 - 78 Tigers looked like a real team last night, as LHP Eduardo Rodriguez, 3 - 3, pitched one earned run baseball over six innings to rout the 58 - 68 Rangers, 11 - 2. Today's game features the stylings of RHP Drew Hutchinson, 1 - 7, for the Tigers beginning @ 2: 35 p.m.

The 63 - 56 Caps have bounced back, as they defeated the 66 - 53 South Bend, IN Cubs, 3 - 1. The Caps and the Cubs play an afternoon game today beginning @ 2:00 p.m.

Last night, the Chicago Bears, 3 - 0 in the preseason, narrowly defeated the 1 - 2 Cleveland Browns, 21 - 20. Bears starting QB, Justin Fields, looked sharp while he was in there, in spite of the Browns having none of their starting defense on the field.

The Detroit Lions, 1 - 1, in the preseason, face the 2 - 0 Pittsburgh Steelers today @ 4:30 p.m.

Next Friday, 9-2-22, the Spartans of Michigan State are set to play the Broncos of W. Michigan @ 7:00 p.m. for their 2022 season opener.

The Wolverines of Michigan kick off their 2022 season on Saturday, 9-3-22, in a game versus the Colorado State Rams starting @ 12:00 p.m.

Friday, I put on my automotive technicians hat and changed the turn signal bulb on our Jeep Renegade before doing a good cleaning on the interior.

Otherwise, yesterday was a day for ear-reading, print reading, crossword solving, indoor chores, and retirement.

Today features more ear-reading, more print reading, more cookie baking, more walkabouts, and my ukulele session tonight @ 9:00 p.m. Ciao.

Thursday, August 25, 2022

Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be, across the nation and across the world. It is just past 9:15 p.m. in "The City", where the current temperature under cloudy skies is 71°. The rain has ended today. We received approx. 1/2 inches of rain this afternoon.

Unfortunately, the rain has produced an RHI of 89% as we head towards tonight's low temperature of 64° and tomorrow's high temperature of 78°. That's before we drop to 59° for an overnight low temperature.

We have a Beach Hazard Statement in effect from tonight until tomorrow evening, for Allegan, Mason, Muskegon, Oceana, and Ottawa counties. High waves and strong currents will be good reasons for swimmers to stay on the beach.

Plus, we also have a Small Craft Advisory in effect from St. Joseph to Manistee until 8:00 p.m. tomorrow night, with wind speeds of 15 to 25 knots and waves up to five feet in height.

The sun will rise tomorrow @ 7:01 a.m. and set tomorrow night @ 8:31 p.m.

Speaking of the shorter days, we were encouraged to go out last night and see the band playing at the Lynn Sherwood Waterfront Stadium and then catch the GH Musical Fountain show from the stadium and from the outdoor seating area at Tip - A Few Two, with Ginger at our feet. She was most attentive to the young man who gave her dog treats throughout our stay.

People danced to the lively music of the Frank Elmer Band.

A small group, with a big sound.

The sun was setting over Dewey Hill as we watched.

I surprised myself with these shots.

Indeed!

Boats of all sizes were returning from Lake Michigan.

Including this one from GH.Cycleboat.Com., with people singing a song from the band Journey.

Against the darkening skies, this gull was easily visible.

Before the show, the operators test the fountain.

Dewey Hill made for a nice background to the water.

Ginger was more interested in the other dogs present than the Musical Fountain.

At night, the colors are magnificent.

Music is an integral part of the aptly named Music Fountain.

Interestingly, Saturday marks the 60th anniversary of the Musical Fountain here in GH.

In baseball news, the 54 - 71, third place in the NL Central Cubs, fell to the 72 - 53 first place in the NL Central Cardinals today, 3 - 8. However, Cubs GM Jed Hoyer sees some of the same things in this year's team that he saw in the 2016 Cubs and you know what that led to, so...

The Cubs travel to Milwaukee tomorrow night to face the 65 - 58 second place in the NL Central Brewers @ 8:05 p.m. with LHP Justin Steel on the mound for the Cubs.

My beloved Red Sox dropped yet another to the Blue Jays, 5 - 6 in 10 innings. The Sox are home tomorrow night to play the Tampa Bay Rays @ 7:10 p.m. with RHP Michael Wacha on the bump for the Sox.

The Tigers were off today before they travel to TX to meet the Rangers @ 8:05 p.m. tomorrow night, with LHP Tyler Alexander throwing for the Tigers.

Finally, the Caps lost badly to the South Bend Cubs, 3 - 13. The Caps are home tomorrow night for a 6:35 p.m. game versus those same South Bend Cubs.

I had another pool P/T session today and I like the way I feel both afterward and the way I seem to recover more quickly from any ache I feel in my lower yak after other activities.

Mary stayed behind and listened to her ear-read.

I took STWD for a walk earlier, but Ginger was being stubborn, so Mary went walkabout without Ginger to teach Ginger a lesson. We shall see if Ginger is as smart as we like to believe.

We finished ear-reading book number six in the Maggie Hope series and we'll be starting number seven soon.

Tomorrow, Mary and Ginger will be going to the grocery store and I'll be staying home.

I've picked out my next print-read, but I won't get started on that til tomorrow. Ciao.

Wednesday, August 24, 2022

Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be, across the nation and across the world. It is just past 3:00 a.m. in "The City", where the current, "Real Feel", and overnight low temperatures are all the same, 65°. That's under foggy skies with a wind out of the ??? @ 0 mph. We have an RHI of 92%, which makes it feel a bit more uncomfortable than that temperature reading would indicate.

Today's high temperature following the sunrise @ 7:00 a.m. will reach 81° under sunny skies, well before the sunset @ 8:32 p.m.

I didn't get out much yesterday. I made it to my orthopedist appointment, but that was about it. However, Mary and Ginger took a long walk over to Linear Park on Harbor Island. The sign that proclaims that the land is Linear Park was taped over, so Mary has no idea what will become of one of their favorite places. At any rate, they took some great pix over the last couple of days, so here they are.

Neither Ginger nor Mary had any idea why the sign was taped over.

But a nearby bench was a great place from which to shoot some pix of the crane.

And these ducks.

This is Duck Pond on Harbor Island.

From the far end of Linear Park, the channel looks very inviting.

The site of the former Grand Haven Tribune building is soon to be the site of apartments that will utilize the Tribune name in their name.

Baseball news yesterday was 1 - 5.

That's because the 53 - 70 Cubs and rookie RHP Javier Assad shut down the 71 - 52 Cardinals in game one, 2 - 0 in a doubleheader. In fact, Assad was excited that his first MLB strikeout was versus future Hall of Fame Cardinal, Albert Pujols. The Cubs' future looks bright if Assad can do it again, "Next Year."

However, in game two, the Cubs and losing RHP Adrian Sampson, 1 - 4, were thoroughly outplayed by the Cards, 3 - 13. Tonight's game in Wrigley Field begins @ 8:05 p.m. with another rookie RHP, Luke Farrell, 0 - 0, on the mound for the Cubs.

My beloved 60 - 63 Red Sox and losing RHP Josh Winckowski, 3 - 9, couldn't get the job done versus the 66 - 55 Blue Jays last night and they lost, 3 - 9. Tonight's game in Fenway Park begins @ 7:10 p.m. with rookie RHP Brayan Bello, 0 - 3, on the bump for the Red Sox.

The 47 - 77 Tigers are definitely going home in the fall. With so many starting pitchers either on the IL or missing in action, they just look bad. In their game yesterday, they fell to the 61 - 61 Giants, 1 - 3.

However, it was said by one of the announcers that the Tigers flashed some serious leather in the outfield. Having watched part of the game, I can attest that RF Willi Castro was a lone bright spot for the Tigers from left field. The Tigers and RHP Matt Manning, 1 - 3, take the field this afternoon @ 1:10 p.m.

Finally, the now 60 - 55 Caps are not showing much right now, as they dropped one to the 65 - 50 South Bend, IN Cubs last night, 1 - 2. The Caps and the SB Cubs play again tonight @ 6:35 p.m.

Yesterday, a serviceman came by to tune up our garage door. That took about 15 minutes, but I like to defer to a man with knowledge and a ladder when it comes to garage doors.

Today, STWD has an appointment to have a pawdicure. Mary plans to go to the Farmer's Market, sans her wing gal, Ginger, to see if Mary can procure some salad greens. I don't grow those in our vast gardens.

Speaking of which, Pink is still blooming and I'll have to water her and the vegetable and other flora again today.

Mostly, we will be print reading, ear-reading, watching the world go by, and enjoying retirement. Ciao.

Tuesday, August 23, 2022

Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be. across the nation and across the world. It is just past 4:30 a.m. in "The City."

A current temperature under clear skies of 57°, shares the distinction of being the low, "Real Feel", and actual temperatures right now, with only a sight breeze out of the south @ one mph. The RHI is a bit high @ 91%.

Today's high temperature will reach 78° with an overnight low of 63° under clear skies. There is no rain in the forecast until Thursday's 24% chance, so it is likely that I'll be watering again tomorrow, just as I did yesterday.

The sun will rise today @ 6:59 a.m. and set later @ 8:34 p.m. Yes, the summer is drawing to a close, as is "The Season" here in Grand Haven.

Not much to report in the baseball world, as only the  52 - 69 Cubs played last night. In spite of a stellar pitching performance by RHP Drew Smyly, the Cubs fell by a final score of 0 - 1, recording only one hit off the bat of rookie Chris Morel. Either the Cardinals pitcher, Jordan Montgomery, 7 - 3, is the second coming of Cy Young, or the Cubs once again had slumber in the lumber. I guess that both things are true.

The effort by Smyly bodes well for next season. Yes, I am saying, "Wait til next year!" That's because the Cubs have some good young arms in the mix as starters and in the bullpen, and Kyle Hendricks should return following successful repairs to a tear in his shoulder. But, only time will tell.

The Cubs play two today, with game one in Wrigley beginning @ 2:20 p.m. with another rookie RHP, Javier Assad, 0 - 0, pitching for the Cubs, and game 2 beginning @ 8:05 p.m. with no pitcher yet announced for the Cubs.

Otherwise, there has been no change for my other teams.

My beloved 60 - 62, Red Sox are home to face the 65 - 55 Blue Jays @ 7:10 p.m. with RHP Josh Winckowski, 5 - 6, on the mound for the Sox.

As previously reported, the 47 - 76 Tigers are also home to face the 60 - 61 Giants, with RHP  Drew Hutchinson, 1 - 6, on the mound for the Tigers beginning @ 7:10 p.m.

Finally, the Caps are also at home to face the South Bend, IN Cubs beginning @ 6:35 p.m. The Caps are still stinging from their double loss last Sunday.

Today bodes well, as I started a new book that has been labeled a "Beach Read." I'd agree, but it is turning out to be fun, so why not?

I have my first of five orthopedist appointments this afternoon for injections to help my aging knees. The injections are very effective, so a little pain is worth the gain.

Otherwise, Mary will be getting a replacement for a damaged part of her equipment that was supposed to help her with that aforementioned stitching project. Alas, she has no fabric and only some of the floss for said project. Oh well, she is making progress on a Halloween-themed cross-stitch project right now.

We'll continue to ear-read book number six in the Maggie Hope series too, which we spent part of yesterday afternoon enjoying on our deck.

I understand that Mary has found another book for her own ear-reading too.

Ciao.

Sunday, August 21, 2022

Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be, across the nation and across the world. It is just past 9:00 p.m. in "The City", where the current temperature is a very pleasant 73° under partly-cloudy skies. The "Real Feel" temperature is also 73° with a wind out of the west @ 10 mph. Our overnight low temperature will fall to only 62°.

There is a Beach Hazard Statement in effect until late tonight for Allegan, Ottawa, and Van Buren counties. In addition, there is a Small Craft Advisory in effect from St. Joseph to Holland until 5:00 a.m. tomorrow.

Our overnight low is forecast by the NWS to fall to 62° before tomorrow's high temperature of 75° under sunny skies, with an overnight low of only 57°.

That overnight rain/T-storm threat failed to materialize. That is also true for the T-storms that popped up on the radar this afternoon. They too missed GH and that means I'll be watering tomorrow.

The sun will rise tomorrow @ 6:57 a.m. and set later tomorrow night @ 8:37 p.m.

I decided today would be a good day for some local pix, so I made it all the way out to the back area of the palatial estate for some shots of our own vegetable, herb, and flower gardens. Without further ado, here are some of my efforts.

The first bloom on Mary's hibiscus opened Sunday morning.

Directly below, is the next bloom to open.

One of the roses that the rabbit couldn't get to.

This rose will soon have a companion.

A geranium.

In the foreground, is my water pump planter.

With enough water, this flower adds color to the gardens.

This is the first cherry tomato to ripen on one of our volunteer tomato plants.

The green peppers continue to prosper.

No shortage of tomatoes this year.

One of the biggest we grew this season.

Our basil has gone wild!

While it was a day for my indoor chores, I was sleepy and crashed in the media room while Mary finished the chores. Oops.

But, I finished my latest novel and we listened to what is actually book number six in the Maggie Hope series, not book number four as I reported yesterday. Mary also found time to stitch more and listen to her own book too.

My regular Sunday night ukulele session was canceled this week.

Baseball news today was mixed.

The 52 - 68 Cubs finally couldn't pull a rabbit out of the proverbial hat and lost to the 64 - 56 Brewers, 2 - 5. The Cubs' two runs came from Ian Happ's 100th career dinger and also off the bat of Seiya Suzuki.

The Cubs won't get any rest, as tomorrow night, when the 69 - 51 Cardinals come to town for an 8:05 game with Drew Smyly on the mound for the Cubs.

The 47 - 76 Tigers won one over the disappointing 52 - 69 Angels today, 4 - 0/ Rookie phenom, Riley Greene got the scoring started with a first inning, first pitch home run, and later added a highlight reel catch in centerfield that stymied the Angels try at a comeback. The Tigers play again Tuesday night in Comerica Park versus the 60 - 61 giants with RHP Drew Hutchison on the bump for the Tigers.

My beloved, but not-so-good Red Sox, are playing right now, so there is nothing to report.

The 60 - 54 Caps lost two today. First, their suspended game from yesterday, 4 - 7, and then, their second contest, 3 - 6 to the 64 - 48 Lake County Captains. The Caps return to the Lake Michigan Credit Union Ballpark field Tuesday night for a game versus the 59 - 48 South Bend Cubs @ 6:35 p.m.

Tomorrow promises to be a semi-busy day, as I have P/T in the afternoon and watering in the morning along with a walk with STWD.

Mary and I will be ear-reading, print reading, and Mary will be stitching. Ciao.
