Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be. It is just past 4:30 a.m. in "The City."

I recently came in from the back forty with Ginger and STWD and it is cool and clear as delineated in the forecast from the NWS. The current temperature is 50° as we drop to an overnight low of 45°. Today, we expect a high of 69° under sunny skies, so it should be a good day to get outdoors and do some of the yard work that we have had to put off due to work and rainy conditions. Later this morning, the sun will rise @ 7:18 a.m. and set this evening @ 8:04 p.m.

I was able to spot the morning run of the train on the RSTL @ 9:02 a.m. yesterday as locomotive # 2057 soloed, towing five CHCs, one DWTC with a green stripe around its midsection. and one DBTC that was bringing up the rear. I did hear the northbound passage of the train @ 1:20 p.m., but I have no idea of the number or type of cars.

We got out yesterday afternoon after dropping off Ginger for daycare and grooming. I made it to my P/T appointment and I learned some new exercises and I am making progress. I'm not there yet, but hopefully, I'll soon be able to walk extended periods relatively pain-free.

We traveled to Newaygo yesterday to visit a yarn store and to just enjoy a ride in the cool autumn air. It was great. Mary got another ball of yarn and an associated pattern to add to her stash along with a magazine that chronicles some old-time patterns/projects that looked interesting. On the way home, we stopped at a local farm stand for some apples and ears of corn. The Cortland apples that we picked up should make excellent pies and applesauce. Dinner was spaghetti with a buttered and baked baguette as a side as prepared by Mary and enjoyed by me. I am always satisfied by a simple dish of pasta with tomato sauce.

Today, once we get home from the morning safari with the fur-children, we can get to work in the yard and then make our way to the kitchen for some serious cooking/baking. We'll have to share space, but we should be able to make it work. Of course, Ginger and STWD will be underfoot and that will add to the confusion. I am working on getting Ginger to stay in her space, but I am not too successful as I don't follow through as regularly as good training requires. My bad.

Sports news yesterday was disheartening as the Caps lost game three of their best of three game series to the Dayton Dragons and so their season is now over. Sigh.

The Cubs fell to the Brewers, 0 - 2 to fall to a four game lead over those same Brewers and the
Cardinals in the NL Central. John Lackey gave up two early runs and the Cubs offense didn't/couldn't bail him out. The Cubs and the Brewers play today @ 4:05 p.m.

However, my beloved Red Sox easily handled the Rays, 9 - 3, in their AL East matchup. That win gives the Sox a record of 77 - 64 and a 4.5 game lead over the Yankees. The Sox and the Rays play tonight @ 7:10 p.m.

The Tigers actually won a game over the Bluejays by a slim 5 - 4 score in an interdivisional contest. The Tigers now have a record of 60 - 80 as their season draws ever closer to a spot on the couch from which to watch the playoffs. The Tigers and the Bluejays play today @ 4:07 p.m.

In college football news, the 1 - 0  MSU Spartans play the 0 - 1 Broncos of Western Michigan University this afternoon @ 3:30 p.m. The Spartans are still an unknown in the Big 10.

The 1 - 0 Wolverines of Michigan play the 1 - 0 Bearcats of Cincinnati today @ 12:00 p.m. The Wolverines are a work in progress, also in the Big 10.

The 0 - 1 Huskies of Northern Illinois play the Panthers of Eastern Illinois @ @ 2:30 p.m. today.

That looks like enough for today and yesterday. Ciao.
