Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be. It is just past 1:00 a.m. in "The City."

I was outside with Ginger around 12:15 a.m. and the skies are partly cloudy and the current temperature is 72°. The heatwave is over and we are heading down towards today's high/low of 68°, also under partly cloudy skies. The sun will rise @ 7:38 a.m. and set @ 7:32 p.m. It looks like the fall has finally arrived in fact rather than by an arbitrary date.

The Cubs dropped one to the Cardinals last night in the NL Central, 7 - 8. to fall to 88 - 69 and are still waiting for the season to end and the post-season to begin. Since the Brewers won, the Cubs have yet to clinch their division. The Cubs play the Cardinals again tonight @ 7:08 p.m.

My beloved Red Sox also lost, in their case to the Bluejays in an AL East game, 4 - 9. The Sox still lead the division with a record of 91 - 86 and are heading towards the playoffs. The Sox and the Jays play again tonight @ Fenway @ 7:10 p.m.

The Tigers lost once again, this time to the Royals, 1 - 2. Anibal Sanchez pitched well, but the theTigers offense couldn't muster more than one run and thus the loss. The Tigers trail that other team from Chicago by two games in the AL Central as the Tigers play out their season and the end of Brad Ausmus's career as Tigers manager. The Tigers and the Royals play another meaningless game tonight @ 8:15 p.m.

Ginger and I spotted the trains yesterday. I only heard the morning southbound run @ 8:15 a.m., but I witnessed the northbound run on the RSTL @ 1:42 p.m. as MMRR EMD GP 38-2 locomotive soled past towing six CHCs, six DBTs, and one DWTC.

I went to my P/T appointment yesterday afternoon, but I can't say that I'm happy with my progress. I am still hoping for a miracle cure when I see the yak doctor later in October. I had hoped to see a local doctor in Spring Lake for some alternative treatment, but he is booked until January. Sigh.

Today, I plan to do more stretching exercises, watch TV and do more reading in my latest non-fiction book, Senator Al Franken's book entitled Al Franken, Giant of the Senate. I like the book and it is very informative as Senator Franken traces his route from his time as a young man, one-half of the comedy team of Franken and Davis, and later as a writer for Saturday Night Live. I recommend the book to my readers.

Otherwise, I am still sleeping in the La-Z-Boy in the media room as lying in bed is still too uncomfortable. Once again, sigh.

Oh, Mary reminded me that I should once again supply a list of the acronyms that I use in this blog on a regular basis, so here goes.

CHC - Covered Hopper Car
DBTC - Dreaded Black Tank Car
DWTC - Dreaded White Tank Car
GTC - Gray Tank Car
MMRR - Mid-Michigan Railroad
RSTL - Reality Scale Train Layout
NWS - National Weather Service
STWD - Sugar the Weather Dog
DTWS - Desk Top Weather Station

There may be others, with the exceptions of GTC, STWD, and DWTS, but those are the ones that appear in this blog.

Ciao.
