Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be. It is just past 1:30 a.m. in "The City."

I was outside with Ginger @ 12:45 a.m. and the skies are clear and the temperature is 67° as we drop towards the early morning low of 61°. The sun will rise into sunny skies @ 7:26 a.m. and set later tonight @ 7:52 p.m. As the day progresses, the NWS is forecasting a high of 80°.

Yesterday we had a terrific time watching John work. He was able to assemble Mary's new desk and scoped out what needed to be done to remove the defective disposal and replumb the drain before patching the hole that seems to be the entry point for the mice. John will be picking up the necessary supplies for that project later this morning and then he'll get to work on that task.

I used to be able to do those types of tasks, but my age and current infirmities make that impossible for the foreseeable future. Sigh. I am having ups and downs with those.  However, we determined that I may have a vitamin D deficiency, so we traveled to the local nationwide drug purveyor to pick up some multi-vitamins that are good for both Mary and yours truly. I am still sleeping in the La-Z-Boy as the bed is just too easy for me to roll onto my side and cause myself considerable pain.

We also got the new bulbs for my overhead fixture, the replacement of which I am relatively certain I can handle, maybe.

I am listening to CoasttoCoastAM, with Dave Schrader sitting in for regular host George Noory. Dace is interviewing Michael Nesmith regarding his long-ago experience with the Monkees and also about his new book. An interesting interview.

Later today, Mary needs to get to work on the indexing project in between walking the fur-children in my stead.

Baseball yesterday was two out of three, as the Cubs defeated the Cardinals 8 - 2 in an NL CEntral matchup that kept the Cubs in 1st place three games ahead of the Brewers and four games ahead of the Cardinals. The Cubs and the Cardinals play again today @ 4:05 p.m. EDT.

My beloved Red Sox just finished up their game against the Rays, a game that went on for 15 innings. The Sox took the lead in the top of the 15th, 6 - 5. and then piled on the runs to win the game, 13 - 6. That gives the Sox a 2.5 game lead over the Yankees in the AL East with a Sox record of 83 - 63. The Sox and the Rays play again today @ 6:10 p.m. EDT.

The Tigers managed to eke out a win over that other team from Chicago yesterday, 5 - 2. That win allowed the Tigers to remain in 4th place, two games ahead of that team, who they play again today @ 6:10 p.m.

The Wolverines of Michigan take on the Falcons of Air Force today @ 12:00 p.m.

The Spartans of MSU are off today.

The Huskies of NIU play today against the Cornhuskers of Nebraska, also @ 12:00 p.m.

We had two train runs to spot yesterday. The first was MMRR EMD GP-38-2 locomotive #2019 rolling solo on the RSTL heading south towing eight CHCs, two DBTCs, and five DWTCs, with various colors of anti-corrosive strips around their mid-sections.

Later @ 2:30 p.m. that same locomotive was observed traveling north towing three CHCs, three DBTCs, one DWTC, and one GTC.

Today I plan to do more reading and more TV watching, including the Wolverines and the Cubs after that. John will be working in the kitchen and Mary in her newly re-furnished office. I am sitting in her chair as she has taken over mine. Each matches our respective desks more closely.

Otherwise, that's it for today. Ciao.
