Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be. It is just past 2:30 a.m. in "The City.

I was outside with Ginger around 1:00 a.m. and the skies were partly cloudy with the current temperature of 59° Nowhere in the forecast for yesterday from the NWS was there a mention of the rain that fell last night. I was outside with the fur-children around 7:00 p.m. and we got wet. Go figure. It makes sense since I had watered the mums in front of the manse yesterday.

As of now, Kyle Underwood, meteorologist for WOOD TV/Radio is reporting that the temperature here on the shore of the "Big Lake" will be six to seven degrees cooler than inland today. We shall see. Mary and I have to work on the index so we'll only get an abbreviated idea of what the temperature will be like later in the day. At any rate, the NWS is forecasting a high of 74° under sunny skies. Kyle Underwood also noted that there is a chance of showers on Monday. However, at this point, I think he is using a crystal ball. The sun will rise later this morning @ 7:11 a.m. and set tonight @ 8:15 p.m.

Sports news from yesterday will be brief because I have other activities on tap for this early morning.

The Wolverines of Michigan defeated the Gators of Florida in a gem that featured two interceptions thrown by the Michigan QB, Wilton Speight and only three points scored by a very ineffective QBs of Florida. The Wolverines won the game 33 - 17 and the two touchdowns scored by Florida came off the two interceptions.

The Spartans of MSU knocked off the Falcons of Bowling Green 35 - 10. It is going to be an interesting season for the Spartans.

Last Friday night, the Huskies of Northern Illinois University fell to the Eagles of Boston College, 20 - 23. The Huskies are a team that will both surprise and frustrate their fans this year.

The Cubs played a sloppy game against the Braves yesterday, finally winning a 14 - 12 game that saw the Cubs hit three home runs, including a grand-slam off the bat of backup catcher Rene Rivera, his first, that just stayed inside the foul pole. In addition, Javier Baez and Jason Heyward also got dingers, while Anthony Rizzo cleared the bases with a triple that gave him 100 RBIs to go with his 30 home runs and 30 doubles. He is only the fourth player in Cubs history to record those totals in three seasons in a row. The Cubs now lead the NL Central by 4.5 games over the losing Brewers and 7 games over the losing Cardinals. The Cubs and the Braves play again today @ 2:20 p.m. EDT.

My beloved Red Sox fell to the Yankees yesterday. 1- 5 in an AL East battle of the top two teams. The Sox still lead the Yankees by 4.5 games and they play the Yankees tonight @ 7:35 p.m.

The Tigers are still finding ways to lose as they dropped another game to the Indians, 2 - 5 to fall to 58 - 77 in the AL Central and still stay ahead of that other team from Chicago by 4.5 games, The Tigers will once again face the Indians today @ 1:10 p.m.

The Caps squeaked out a win over the TinCaps in an MWL East game to move to 4.5 games ahead of the TinCaps with the Caps achieving a record of 45 - 22 in the second half of their season. The Caps and the TinCaps play again tonight @ 6:00 p.m.

Otherwise, I have little to say about yesterday. The fur-children were good while we were out and they need to be good today after the morning safari as Mary and I have lots of work to do. Ciao.
