Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be. It is nearly 5:00 a.m. in "The City." As usual, I'm listening to CoasttoCoast AM with host George Noory and I just heard Gorge play his theme song, listening to Coast to Coast as performed by UFO Phil. Here's the YouTube link to that famous song.

Yesterday, our anniversary, was as beautiful as advertised by the forecast from the NWS. The temperature was in the low 70s and the sun was shining, much like our wedding day 44 years ago. We have a current temperature of 51° just outside the WW as reported by the NWS and when I was outside with Ginger around 3:15 a.m., it felt like they were accurate. The skies are clear and the stars are visible. Later today after the sun rises @ 7:11 a.m. and well before it sets @ 8:15 p.m., the high temperature will peak at a mostly sunny 70°.

I tried to work hard yesterday on the index, in spite of it being our anniversary. However, I guess that I just don't have an indexers mind and so I let Mary down when I couldn't do what should have been a simple task to save her from doing it. I can edit, I can highlight, but I guess that indexing itself is beyond my mortal abilities.

We did get some tasks performed that included picking up the meds for the fur-children at the veterinarian's office and that leads me to another related topic. We decided to celebrate our anniversary at our favorite watering hole and that kept us away from the manse for about 1 1/2 hours. So yes, John, I didn't "Tip-a-Few" for my birthday, but we did get there before the tourists descended for the last weekend of the summer season in GH.

When we got back, the fur-children, most likely STWD, had tipped over the dog food bin in the kitchen and Ginger was acting especially guilty. However, the size and weight of the bin seemed to eliminate Ginger as the primary suspect, so by process of elimination, like Sir Arthur Conan Doyle had his most famous character, Sherlock Holmes, often say, "Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable,  must be the truth." That left STWD as the perpetrator. We have been trying to cause STWD's weight to come down a little, so perhaps she feels as though she isn't getting enough to eat. We have moved their food bin to the mud room and we will add some additional food to the intrepid one's bowl with each meal to make her feel more full after eating.

The baseball news yesterday was 3/4 good. The Cubs behind John Lackey and with some spectacular base running by Javier Baez, defeated the visiting Atlanta Braves, 2 - 0. The Cubs are still atop the NL Central and lead the 2nd place Brewers by 3.5 games and the 3rd place Cardinals by 6.0 games. The Cubs and the Braves play again today @ 2:20 p.m. EDT.

My beloved 1st place in the AL East Boston Red Sox toppled the 2nd place NY Yankees 4 - 1 to move to 77 - 58 and 5.5 games ahead of those Yankees. The Sox and the Yankees play today @ 1:05 p.m. EDT.

The Tigers managed to double up on their losing yesterday, dropping the first game of a double header, a makeup game against the visiting Indians, 3 - 2 and then they followed that loss with an 0 - 10 drubbing by the Indians in the nightcap. Those two losses dropped the Tigers to 58 - 76 in the AL Central and left them holding firmly on to 4th place, 5.5 games ahead of that other team from Chicago. The Tigers will attempt to lose once again to the Indians tonight @ 6:10 p.m.

The Caps righted their ship once again as they defeated the South Bend, IN Cubs, 4 - 0. The 1st place in the MWL East West Michigan Whitecaps come home today to face the 2nd place Ft. Wayne, IN TinCaps tonight @ 7:00 p.m.

I didn't miss the northbound train run on Thursday as I saw it pass by yesterday around 11:30 a.m. I only know for sure that locomotive #2057 was soloing and towing a mix of CHCs, DWTCs, and DBTCs. I didn't get an actual count as we were out on the morning safari.

Today, we have to get to work early on the index and walk the fur-children. That will pretty much complete our day. I have to finish yesterday's Grand Haven Tribune and its crossword puzzle along with picking up the weekend edition of that newspaper while on safari. Ciao.
