Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be. It is just past 1:30 a.m. in "The City."

I just finished up meditating about one-hour ago. I'm using the Head Space™ program as an assistant in learning how to meditate. I am just a neophyte and yet, I can feel that the process is beneficial.

But I digress. I was outside with Ginger @ 12:30 a.m. and the forecast from the NWS is accurate. The skies were clear and the current temperature is 70°. Later today, after the sun rises @ 7:34 a.m., and well before it sets @ 7:38, the high temperature is forecast to reach 86° under sunny skies. There is no precipitation in the forecast for the foreseeable future and the temperatures are forecast to remain in the 80s until next Wednesday when the high is forecast to be only a much cooler 69°.

Mary made a terrific brunch of mushroom gravy served over roast beest and rice. The flavor was great and the meal filling. I liked it.

Later, yesterday afternoon, after we returned from a walk to the Bookman with the fur-children, I was sitting at my desk when Mary rushed in to tell me that we were going to Hemlock Crossing County Park/Nature Center for a presentation on monarch butterflies. She had been walking with Ginger and when she returned, she read about the presentation in the weekend edition of the Grand Haven Tribune. The presentation by one of the three naturalists assigned to Hemlock Crossing was both informative and enjoyable. Next month's presentation, spiders!

Sports news yesterday was good and bad. The Wolverines of Michigan started out slowly against the Boilermakers of Purdue, but they got going and finished their 4th game of the season, 28 - 10. The Wolverines are now 4 - 0 and 2 - 0 in the Big 10, good enough for 2nd place. The Wolverines have a bye week next Saturday before they meet the Spartans of MSU @ 12:00 p.m. on October 7.

Sadly, the very mistake prone Spartans of MSU lost their starting QB to an injury and his replacement was never able to avoid turnovers against the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame as the Spartans gave up 38 points and lost the game, 10 - 38. That gives the Spartans a record of 2 - 1 and also a second place position in the Big 10. The Spartans face the Hawkeyes of Iowa next week @ 4:00 p.m.

The Huskies of Northern Illinois are playing now in San Diego against the Aztecs. More on them later. Given the way that the Cornhuskers of Nebraska handled the Scarlet Knights of Rutgers yesterday, winning 27 - 17, the Huskies win last week was a big deal. The Huskies play next Saturday in DeKalb against the Kent State Golden Flashes @ a time TBD, for the Huskies 111th Homecoming.

The Cubs had to eventually lose one to the Brewers. That loss came yesterday, 3 - 4, in a matchup between NL Central rivals. The 1st place Cubs lead the 2nd place Brewers by 4.5 games with eight games to play. The Cubs and the Brewers close out their series today @ 2:10 p.m. in Milwaukee.

My beloved Red Sox cruised past the Reds yesterday, 5 - 0 to move their AL East 1st place record to 90 - 64. The Sox have clinched a playoff berth and are 4.0 games ahead of the 2nd place Yankees, who have also clinched a spot in the post-season. The Sox and the Reds play today @ 1:10 p.m.

The Tigers finally succeeded in falling all the way to the basement in the AL Central with a record of 62 - 93 following their loss to the Twins, 2 - 8. Tigers manager, Brad Ausmus, has been given his walking papers, as expected, and the Tigers are now looking for their next manager.

Today, we have tickets to see a musical presentation in Muskegon entitled My Way, A Tribute to Frank Sinatra, at the Frauenthal Theater. I like Sinatra music and this revue promises to sate my need for his music.

Otherwise, we have no specific plans. I would like to make a batch of Colcannon soup if time permits. I have been meaning to get to that for several days. Mary is still cross-stitching our Christmas Tree skirt in hopes of getting it finished by Christmas. Ciao.
