Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be. It is just past 2:00 a.m. in "The City."

I am once again going to attempt to follow the KISS formula for this blog. WIll I make it? Stay tuned.

The current temperature is 67° as we drop down an additional two degrees to the overnight low forecast by the NWS of 65°. The skies are clear, however, they will become partly cloudy after the sun rises today @ 7:27 a.m. and well before it sets tonight @ 7:50 p.m. No rain is in the forecast for the foreseeable future and the temperatures will remain in the mid to upper 70s until Wednesday, the 27th when we fall back into the mid-60s.

Sports news yesterday was somewhat unpredictable. I watched the NIU Huskies defense throttle the offense of the Nebraska Cornhuskers to win the game, 21 - 17. That win gives the Huskies a 2 - 1 record as they head into their bye week. The Huskies will be off until they travel to sunny California to play the San Diego State Aztecs on September 30, @ 9:30 p.m. EDT.

The Wolverines of Michigan started off slow against the Falcons of Air Force, but as the game wore on, the Wolverines took command and defeated the Falcons 29 - 13. The Wolverines are now a 3 - 0 team with a 2nd place position in the Big 10. However, every team is in 2nd place as the Ohio State Buckeyes are the only 1 - 0 team in the Big 10.

The Spartans of MSU return to the field @ home against the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame on Saturday, 9/23 @ 8:00 p.m. The Spartans are 2 - 0 in non-conference games this season.

The 1st place in the NL Central Cubs once again defeated the 2nd place Cardinals as the Cubs scored a win with a 4 - 1 score yesterday afternoon. The Cubs are now four games ahead of the Brewers and five games ahead of the Cardinals in their division with 14 games to play in the regular season. The Cubs and the Cardinals play again this afternoon @ 2:20 p.m.

My beloved Red Sox sneaked past the Rays yesterday, 3 - 1 to hold tightly onto 1st place in the AL East with a record of 85 - 63, also with 14 games left to play in the regular season. The Sox are three games ahead of the 2nd place Yankees. The Sox and the Rays close out their series this afternoon @ 1:10 p.m.

The 4th place in the AL Central Tigers as is all too often expected, lost to that other team from Chicago, 4 - 10. Those two teams are battling for the bottom of the division and a spot on the couch in the post-season. The Tigers are now a 61 - 87 team and are playing out the string over their next 14 games. They meet that other team again today @ 1:10 p.m.

Mary is doing well on her indexing project and I am doing well reading my latest novel entitled How To Find Love in a Bookshop by Veronica Henry. This book is a step out of the box for me as was My Italian Bulldozer, by Alexander McCall Smith. As a rule, I like to read mysteries and thrillers along with historical times, but both of the aforementioned books came highly recommended by Mary and the library staff at the Loutit Library.

I won't spoil the story in How To Find Love in a Bookshop but I highly recommend this book to people who love a good story that is well told. I have recommended that Mary put this book on her reading list.

Today, Mary will be indexing as I read and try to rest my various aching body parts. She will have to walk the fur-children once again as I can't make it past the back-forty. I hope to be able to spend some time in the kitchen today if I can. Ciao.
