Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be. It is just past 3:30 a.m. in "The City."

I have not been out with either of the fur-children tonight. That duty has fallen to Mary with the continuing soreness in my yak. However, the current temperature is 62° with light rain falling. Sadly, given the drought conditions that we have been experiencing in West Michigan for the past several weeks, it is too little and likely too late to do much for the gardens of the vast PE. Later today, after the sun rises @ 7:40 a.m. and well before it sets @ 7:29, we are anticipating a high temperature of only 66° under partly cloudy skies. The next possibility of rain is next week on Wednesday.

The Bears once again got off the bus running in Green Bay and after enduring a long weather-related delay in their game against the Packers, the Bears lost to an injury-riddled Packer's squad by a final score of 14 - 35. Many sports pundits in Chicago believe it is time to end the Mike Glennon as starting QB experiment and move into the future. The Bears are off with their record of 1 - 3 until October 9, when they face the Vikings in a Monday night game @ 8:30 p.m.

The Cubs clinched the NL Central division with a 2 - 1, 11 inning win over the Cardinals last night. That win took away any hopes of post-season play for the Cardinals as the 90 - 69 Cubs welcome the Reds to the Friendly Confines today @ 2:20 p.m.

My beloved Boston Red Sox fell hard to the visiting Houston Astros last night, 2 - 12. The Sox have already clinched a berth in the post-season with their record in the AL East of 92 - 67, but they are sputtering while the Astros are surging with an AL West division-leading record of 99 - 60. The Astros remain in Boston for a game tonight @ 7:10 p.m.

The Tigers actually won a game against the Royals last night, 4 - 1 to move to a 5th place record in the AL Central of 63 - 96. The Tigers travel to Minnesota tonight to face the Twins in a meaningless contest against the Twins who have clinched a berth in the AL Wild Card series. The Twins have a record in the AL Central of 83 - 76.

I got a replacement phone for my aging six-year-old flip phone yesterday. The new phone was described by the man at the phone store as getting me into the 20th century. Ha, Ha. Also worthy of note is that my tablet got locked up yesterday and it took a phone call to tech support to find a solution. At least my tablet is in the current century.

Mary has made significant progress on our Christmas tree skirt which is a study in concentration using cross-stitching. Me, I slept a lot yesterday and did some reading between stops at various stores. I have a P/T appointment today @ 1:00 p.m.

That's enough for one day. Ciao.
