Good early morning GH. As we pass 3:00 AM here in "The City" it is 67 degrees as we head for a sunny and less humid high of 79. Mary and I decided to turn on the A/C on Thursday as the humidity had gotten so high. We'll probably turn it off today as soon as the workmen are done clearing the back forty from the storm damage we had on Wednesday night/Thursday morning.

As you may recall in our last episode, I was describing what I thought had been some strange vandals or what might have been storm related as Sugar the Weather Dog had been predicting. Turns out it was the latter. When I got up yesterday, Mary said, "You need to come down and see the tree that has fallen in the backyard." She also said, "It's not the one you think." So down I came to discover that the tree that used to hang over our deck had fallen, not the mostly dead one on our neighbors lot line. Here are the pictures.

This is what I saw from our deck.
Pictures can't do it justice.
Our trash can and that of  our next door neighbor looked like this.
Oops
So what turned out to be a real storm with lightning and thunder and high winds requires some outside assistance. Adam offered his chain saw and my inner/younger self said yes, but my older realistic self said no. Fortunately for me, Mary insisted that we get someone to do the work for us which helped me make a decision.

Otherwise, I didn't get much accomplished. Sugar and I walked. I played guitar. I read the newspaper and then my book. Not much really.

Today, I hope for more of the same. : - )

In sports, the boys in blue once again fell to the Nationals 4 - 5 to remain firmly planted in last place in their division, 21 games back and 19 games under 500. The Tigers now have only a five game lead over the Tribe as they lost to the Twins by a score of 6 - 7. My beloved Red Sox had the day off following their trashing of the Giants the day before. They still have a one game lead over the Rays and they are 21 games over 500. The Caps fell to the team from Bowling Green, the Hot Rods, 3 - 4. In football, the Lions routed the Patriots in preseason action, 40 - 9.

So with the exception of the storm early yesterday morning, not much was happening. I hope that today is a bit quieter. Ciao.
