Good early morning GH. It is nearing 2:00 AM here in "The City" and the current temperature in the Weather Center is 73 digitally measured degrees. The temperature on the desktop is 59 as we head for a high of 78 with no precipitation in sight. That's according to both Sugar the Weather Dog and the Weather Chanel app, so I think I"ll go with that.

On Thursday, I took Sugar for a couple of nice walks and got my haircut. I also found time to take a bike ride towards and through Spring Lake. As always, Mary was working and that allowed me time to finish my latest book and play my guitar too. I don't envy her work schedule, but being retired has its advantages.

Just because I was curious, I went to the website for my old school and noted that their first day is next Wednesday for a full day. Wow, time flies when you are having fun. Here in GH, the first day for students is September 3.

Today, I have a bit of housework to do and then more reading and more guitar playing. I sense a theme here. Mary is waiting for her latest job to come in, so that may alter my schedule a bit. When she is working on a job, I try to to be a bit more quiet so that she can concentrate.

In sports, the boys in blue had the day off in preparation for their next series with the Cardinals. The Tigers got a nice win over the Royals 4 - 1, and now have a 6 1/2 game lead over the Tribe. My beloved Red Sox fell to the Blue Jays 1 - 2, and now have a slim two game lead over the Rays. The Caps eked out a win over the Lugnuts by that same score, 2 - 1. Just for those who care, in preseason action the Bears pulled out a win over the Chargers, 33 - 28, while the Lions were thoroughly trounced by the Browns, 6 - 24. Not to worry, it will soon be college football time and that means Spartans and Wolverines, as well as Buccaneers and Lakers.

So, that's about enough for today. When further news breaks, don't look here for up to the minute details. Ciao.
