Unfortunately, the NWS was right. The winds blew strongly throughout the day, depositing the leaves from Central Park in our driveway and front lawn. The old phrase, "Man plans, Goddess laughs", seems more appropriate than ever. In addition, we had sleet, snow, and rain all in the span of about two hours early yesterday. Today, things are forecast to calm down quite a bit. Less windy, warmer temperatures, and sunny skies. STWD will be happy about that. The abbreviated morning safari I predicted for yesterday came to pass.
Currently, we have a temperature of 40°, the expected overnight low, before we rise to today's high of 51°. That should be comfortable when I begin the process of creating more bags of leaves for the next pickup. I just hope that I can put the bags out this coming week, because the forecast for Wednesday into Thursday is for warmer temperatures, but possible rain/T-storms. I guess it will be another game time decision.
We got to the library, by car yesterday afternoon, due to the high winds and other weather conditions as previously described.
I did get in some time with the girls yesterday, though not as much as I'd have liked. With a lot of help from out IT guru, my computer woes have been mostly eliminated. She had to call on additional IT help for her efforts, so I felt better about that. She was nearly stumped, but only nearly.
The morning train run of EMD GP 38 locomotives #s 2019 and 2057 happened at 9:43 a.m. In tow were two BCs, three CHCs, and nine DBTCs.
Those same locomotives reversed position for the northbound run at 1:25 p.m towing four CHCs, two DBTCs, and a lone DWTC was bringing up the rear. Worthy of note was the fact that I was on the phone with our IT guru while sitting at my desk with the window closed. She could hear the train rumbling past yesterday morning. She remarked that the tracks must be close by. Like I've often said, it is great living on a "Reality Scale" train layout.
As noted, my day today will mostly consist of that morning walk with the intrepid weather dog, some reading, and lots of leaf blowing/raking/bagging. Mary has to get started on her latest indexing project. I've begun my part by highlighting 64 pages so far. That's out of a total of 312 pages. However, these are smaller scale pages as compared to previous books. As described previously, the book is interesting.
The sun will rise at 7:35 a.m. and set at 5:22 p.m. Ciao.
