Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be. It is just past 2:30 a.m. EST in "The City." What a red letter day. I reset my watch all by myself. In year's past, I had to enlist Stephany's assistance to get the job done. I am learning sensei.

Yesterday was an interesting day. I made Cole slaw which we had with sandwiches for lunch. Unfortunately, Mary had to go out for the bread we didn't get earlier in the day when we were out. The old loaf had penicillin starter on it. That is one of the downsides to preservative free breads. But generally speaking, the lack of preservatives is the better way to go.

It was a dark and stormy day. Well it was stormy and it was sometimes dark, so while that phrase is accurate, it is still hackneyed. The temperature never got out of the 40° range, and the high temperature was not exactly warm. But when I went for the morning safari with STWD, we were out and back very quickly due to the rainy conditions. It was when Sugar and I returned that Mary discovered that previously described loaf of bread.

Later, Mary made a dinner of veggie cutlets and what I think she called Provencal Squash Au Gratin. Don't quote me on that name, but the dish was excellent. She found the recipe in her cookbook, The Mediterranean Vegan Kitchen. No matter, it is a keeper. The required winter squash, butternut, was one of the reasons for our visit to the final farmer's market of the season.

We met just a few ghosts, goblins, and princesses last night. The weather was probably a limiting factor. Alas, that means I'll have to enjoy more Smarties™.

I'd like to say that I accomplished my goals yesterday, but I got sidetracked so many times, that I missed my targets. Oh well, another day will be dawning soon, in fact at 6:19 a.m. Wow, that seems weird to write

Sports yesterday was a bit spotty. The Michigan Wolverines won the rights to the Little Brown Jug with a 29 - 26 victory over the Minnesota Golden Gophers. However, in the process, MI QB Jake Rudock left the game in the third quarter after a ferocious hit from the Golden Gophers defense that knocked Rudock's helmet off. Rudock's backup let no doubt why Rudock was named the starter by Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh at the start of the season.

It took a goal line stand by the Wolverines and an inexplicable too long to develop passing play by MN, that fell incomplete. The MN QB tried to sneak it in with two seconds left, but he was stuffed. Elsewhere, the Royals moved one game closer to the goal of a World Series victory over the Mets, with a 5 - 3 win.

In many ways, I wanted the Mets to win the series, because that would in some small way vindicate the losses the Cubs suffered at the hands of the Mets in the NLCS.

It will be warmer today and windy. We should be able to take the morning safari without much trouble. However, I am having some twinges in my Yak that come and ago, so for me it will be a game time decision.

The sun will set at 4:36 p.m.. By 5:00 p.m., it will be dark, but non- stormy night. Monday thru Thursday are predicted to be very nice. Ciao.
