Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be. We've just passed 12:00 a.m. in "The City."
The weather yesterday was absolutely beautiful. We hit a high of 79°, with scattered clouds in a mostly blue sky. I'd like to tell you about tomorrow's weather, but as is all to often the case, at first, I couldn't get any weather for GH, only for a place called Snug Harbor, MI. Snug Harbor could be here, someplace near Muskegon, MI, or perhaps Pentwater, MI. I finally got the Yahoo app to relent and I can now tell you that tomorrows high will be 82° under mostly sunny skies. STWD concurs with the forecast for tomorrow.
Given how nice it was yesterday, I decided that the opportunity to go to the driving range and hit a larger bucket of golf balls was just too tempting, so I yielded to the siren song of the range and stopped in. I duffed a few, hit a couple of long ones, and my irons seemed to mostly be working fine. If I could just learn to not lift my head up and follow through, somethings that I have had a problem with in the past, I'd probably be able to be more consistent. I like to think that time will cure that anomaly in my swing. Maybe another trip to the range is in order.
Since I was north of GH in a city called Fruitport, MI, I missed the northbound run of the train. I heard the lonesome whistle moan, but I didn't see the train itself. However I did witness the southbound run of locomotives 2019 and 2057. Collectively, they were towing three box cars, 18 CHCs, eight DBTCs, and one lone gray tank car of unknown contents. In any event, the train seemed heavily laden at 9:42 yesterday morning.
The representative from the insurance agency stopped in and talked to Mary while I was out. When I got back, a trip to their nearby office was in order to finalize some paperwork. Last evening, I got an email from the company they represent that indicated the amount that was quoted for the homeowner's insurance was not what we were billed. So, I have to make some calls tomorrow. Nothing ever seems to go easy.
I nearly forgot, In sports, the boys in blue were defeated by the Pirates, 5 - 7. The Tigers eked out a win over the Royals, 2 - 1. My beloved Red Sox also won by a score of 2 - 1 over the Yankees. The Caps too were successful, with a final score of 5 - 4, as they won over the Clinton, IA Lumber Kings. That's a .750 winning percentage, but in baseball, a percentage of 1.000 is always better. Oh well, as Tom Hanks said in A League of Their Own, "There's no crying in baseball."
Today, no watering is required in the gardens. Therefore, I plan to read more, highlight more, play with the girls, and laze about as much as possible after a few phone calls. That should mostly fill my day.
The sun will rise at 6:39 a.m. and set at 9:01 p.m. The days are rapidly getting shorter. That's okay, I like the fall. No precipitation is in the forecast from the NWS nor STWD until Friday or Saturday, and that's only 20%. I guess that I can anticipate watering on Friday. Ciao.
