Yesterday was a nice day. A tad humid in the a.m., but the overall day was very pleasant. STWD and I took the morning walk, solo. and due to the humidity, we didn't go all that far. Oh well, today is another day.
Mary and I walked over to the annual Coast Guard Fest™ Craft Fair in Central Park and in the GH Community Center. It was crowded beyond belief. As evidence, I offer these pictures of the pre-fair unoccupied park, and the craft fair park..

Later this morning, the annual Coast Guard Parade steps off at 11:30 a.m. I'll include pictures from the parade and maybe the fireworks later tonight, in my next blog. People have already staked out their viewing spaces with tape, blankets, chairs, or anything that will "save" their "personal" spaces on public lands. I've never much liked this practice wherever we have lived, but they say that this bestows "dibs" on spaces that people have claimed. Just like parking spaces in Chicago in the winter. Mary says that somewhere she read about fences being the way that lower species mark their territories. Hmmmm.
We had a nice time and then headed for home when the music became more "youth oriented."
Later, we walked to the Post to see the musical entertainment. The 5:00 p.m. performer, was "Just Joe." He's a local guy, who rumor has it, is a car salesman in his regular job. However, as he said, he plays gigs around GH periodically. He is very good as both a guitarist and a singer.
Here he is on stage.

In sports, the boys in blue completed a couple of minor trades before the trade deadline. Theo Epstein and Jed Hoyer appear unwilling to mortgage the future of the team or the minor league system, for a few more wins this year. Since their original timetable was for big things in 2016, I agree. In any event, the boys won over the Brewers, 4 - 1 yesterday. The Tigers were not so lucky. While we were at the Post, Mary and I watched them pull out to a 6 - 0 lead, only to finally lose to the Orioles, 7 - 8. Once again, the lack of a bullpen was the culprit as the Tigers snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. Earlier in the day, the Tigers traded Yoenis Cespedes, a solid hitting outfielder, after previously trading their best pitcher, David Price. They have clearly thrown in the towel this season. My beloved Red won another, 7 - 5 over the Tampa Bay Rays. The Caps were losers to the Ft. Wayne TinCaps, 1 - 2.
No trains to spot once again.
I got in some time with the girls yesterday, but I basically didn't accomplish much. Mary's lunch was excellent. We had vegan BLT sandwiches with a cucumber salad made from our home grown produce. In addition, she made potato salad. Dinner, was not up to her usual standards. Like Adam's shrimp creation from long ago, and Mary's personal nadir, salmon loaf, it was described by yours truly and Mary herself as, "Edible, just." I guess that's a step above the salmon loaf, which was inedible, even for our dog at the time, Scrappy.
The sun will set before the fireworks tonight at 9:06 p.m. About two hours before that, we'll have Sugar in her Thundershirt™. No T-storms until the afternoon tomorrow are in the forecast, so that bodes well for the closing day of Coast Guard Fest™ 2015. Probably more watering is in order for today, because I don't trust that forecast, and STWD's radar will be thrown off by the fireworks. So I'll water as a precautionary measure. Ciao
