Coincidentally, it is also past the sunrise that happened @ 6 :04 a.m., but well before the sunset tonight @ 9:26 p.m.
We have a current temperature of 64° that feels like 64° with a wind out of the east @ 11 mph. Not surprisingly, that 64° mark was our overnight low.
Today's high temperature forecast from the NWS calls for a very seasonal 72° under sunny skies with a tiny 4% chance for precipitation. Late tonight and into early tomorrow morning, the low temperature will fall to a very cool 58° under clear skies. A current DTWS barometric pressure reading of 29.33" of Hg and steady and a reading from the NWS in GR of 29.85" of Hg and steady, indicates that that chance of precipitation being an infinitesimal 4% is accurate.
However, the NWS is not done with us yet. There will be two, count them two alerts, statements, advisories in effect from 2:00 p.m. this afternoon until 10:00 p.m. tonight.
The first alert is for a Beach Hazard Statement for Allegan, Ottawa, and Van Buren counties. High waves and strong currents will make swimming hazardous and swimmers are strongly encouraged to stay out of the water. But, as is almost always the case, some foolhardy person(s) will try to prove that they know more than the meteorologists.
Second, concomitant with that Beach Hazard Statement, is a Small Craft Advisory from St. Joseph to Grand Haven with wind speeds from 15 to 30 knots and wave heights from three to five feet. So, while there will be some foolhardy person(s) who jump into the water, there will likely also be surfers and sailboarders too. The latter know what to do to remain safe, the former, well....
Baseball news was mostly not good, so I'll just say that the Red Sox were drubbed, the Tigers were swept, and the Caps took it on the chin.
The lone exception was the outcome of the Cubs versus the Cardinals, as the 38 - 27 tied for 1st place in the NL Central Cubs, swept the 32 - 33 4th place Cardinals with a 2 - 0 win. The Cubs starting pitcher, RHP Zach Davies, 4 - 3, looked great and got the win, while the Cardinals starting and losing pitcher, Carlos Martinez, also pitched well, but he was victimized by some sloppy fielding by the Cardinals. So while he was tagged with the loss, he didn't lose the game himself.
Tonight's games: Cuba versus Mets, 7:10 p.m. EDT on ESPN™ with RHP Jake Arietta, 5 - 6 trying to go even for the season.
The beloved have one more game versus the Blue Jays @ 7 :10 p.m. tonight, as RHP Nathan Eovaldi, 7 - 3, tries to right the ship for the Red Sox.
The Tigers are in KC tonight for an 8:10 p.m. game versus the Royals as LHP Matthew Boyd, 3 - 6, makes his next start.
The 2nd place in he East Division Caps, have the night off before welcoming Mary's sentimental favorites, the 1st place Dayton Dragons for a 7:05 p.m. start.
We watered the green children yesterday, both here and at Mary's auxiliary vast garden and finished the weekend crossword puzzle. I finished my last novel, James Patterson's 21st Birthday, and started my next one, August Snow by Stephen Mack Jones, a Michigan native and first time novelist. He is a published poet and award-winning playwright, so this is a natural extension of his writing craft. I liked the book from the first page, so I will not toss this one aside. The storyline is set in Detroit and other places in MI, so I can live vicariously.
Mary finished her latest read, Stacy Abrams' While Justice Sleeps, and in fact she stayed up late, or was it early yesterday morning, in a vain attempt to finish the book. Alas, she needed more time. She has chosen another novel, but I cannot remember the title off hand.
Otherwise, today should be relatively uneventful. No watering, but there will be a run to that big-box nearly everything store later today. Mary will continue to multi-task on kitchen activities, listening to an audio book, reading, and needlepointing. I'd just like to read more, perhaps get to the man-cave for some things, and play some music, but nothing that can't wait. We'll just enjoy the mild weather here in the Tri-Cities area before tonight's Cubs; game. Ciao.
