Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be, across the nation and across the world. It is just past 6:00 a.m. in "The City."

A current temperature of 67° feels like 67° with a slight wind out of the east @ 4 mph under partly-cloudy skies. The current barometric pressure readings are: DTWS, 29.30" of Hg and falling, while the NWS is reporting 29.84" of Hg and steady. That's life on the shores of the "Big Lake" for you.

Today's high will be about 4° cooler than yesterday, reaching 76° under mostly sunny skies. The overnight low will drop to a very seasonal 61°. The sunrise @ 6:04 a.m. today will be followed by the sunset @ 9:25 p.m.

We have a slight chance of rain or T-storms in the forecast for today. I think it was fortuitous that I watered here in the vast gardens and did a small amount of yardwork while STWD watched once I was in the back-forty. Mary and Ginger walked to Mary's auxiliary Vast Gardens to water there. Mary reports that her "Green Children" there are doing well.

I finished my latest novel last night while watching the rain-delayed loss of the 21 - 37 Tigers to that victorious 39 - 24 other team from Chicago. I finished an older novel by Michael Schaara entitled For Love of the Game. The focus of this short but enjoyable novel was aging RHP Billy Chapel who pitched for the fictional Hawks in the American League. In the last game of an illustrious career, he pitched a no-hitter for the last-place Hawks versus the contending Yankees. There is a movie of the same title starring Kevin Costner and I will have to watch that to see how well the book and the movie match up.

Back to the Tigers. They return to the field later today @ Comerica Park today @ 4:10 p.m. to face that other team, as RHP Jose Urena, 2 - 5, tries to get a win.

My beloved 39 - 25, 2nd place in the AL East Red Sox snatched victory from a near defeat yesterday versus the 31 - 30 Blue Jays, 6 - 5, on the strength of home runs by Bobby Dalbec and Christian Arroyo and a walk-off single by Alex Verdugo. The local fans @ Fenway Park and throughout America, along with yours truly, were very happy. The win went to reliver RHP Garrett Whitlock, 2 - 1. Today's game versus those same Blue jays begins @ 4:10 p.m.

The 36 - 27, tied for 1st place with the Brewers in the NL Central Cubs, were also victorious over their NL Central rivals, the 32 - 31 Cardinals by a score of 8 - 5. Former Cubs' stars Andre Dawson, Ferguson Jenkins, Ryne Sandberg, Lee Smith, and Billy Williams were there to see Anthony Rizzo foul off pitch after pitch, until on the 14th pitch of his at bat, Rizzo crushed one into the right-field bleachers to tie the game. The Cubs went on to get the win for RHP reliever, Tommy Nance, 1 - 0.

Some pundits called yesterday's Cubs' game Opening Day 2.0, as the "Friendly Confines" were allowed to be 100% open to fans for the first time this year. By the by, SNL alum and Die Hard Cubs fan Bill Murray, was also on hand to sing the national anthem during the 7th inning stretch.

Tonight's game begins for those same teams @ 7:15 p.m. EDT, as RHP Kyle Hendricks, 7 - 4, goes for the boys in blue.

The 18 - 15 West Michigan White Caps defeated the 16 - 18 Lansing Lugnuts @ the Lake Michigan Credit Union Ballpark last night, 9 - 4. The Caps are just one and one-half games behind the 1st place Dayton Dragons in the Eastern Division. Tonight the Caps and the Lugnuts play again @ 7:05 p.m.

Along with my outdoor chores, I completed a crossword puzzle and made some vegan Italian burgers later in the day for dinner. Mary finished meal prep by making some Spud Puppies, thinly disguised Tater Tots™ as a side. Earlier, she had  made scrambled tofu with toast for brunch.

We mostly got everything back in place yesterday following the carpet cleaning. Mary has to sort through some books to be donated and then we'll be done. I also waned to include this pic our Senior Staff Photographer took of her end-tabletop decoration utilizing fresh roses from her rose garden and one of my colored-pencil drawings. Where I see flowers, Mary sees arrangement.

Looking good!

Today, we have some indoor chores to accomplish and that's about it for our activities. I just finished some harmonica practice and now I am off to watch some inane TV, as I am not quite ready to return to bed. Ciao.
