I've been busy this morning doing my downstairs morning chores and also transcribing some music. I'd like to say that I've accomplished more this morning before 9:00 a.m. Well I did, so I will. But that would be borrowing from that old US Army recruiting commercial. Hey, why not? My tax dollars were at work on that commercial. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xt-9dQ84LBg
At any rate, the current temperature is 53°, but it feels like 52° with a breeze out of the south @ 5 mph. That's under sunny-skies before we reach today's forecast high-temperature of 66°. I think it will be a bit warmer today, but that's just one man's opinion. The overnight low is forecast to be 53°
I listened to several baseball games yesterday in betwixt and between working in the kitchen on another batch of my famous vegan Italian burgers. They turned out great because Mary had picked up the requisite portabella mushrooms that always make those burgers or my vegan Italian meatballs just right.
Mary and Ginger went walkabout yesterday while I was busy in the kitchen, so STWD benefitted from Ginger's absence and scored one of her favorite things, mushroom cuttings. While they were out, Mary took a few pix.
Ginger relaxing in Central Park after a long walk to the waterfront. |
Boaters were enjoying the holiday in spite of the seasonal temperatures. |
But since it was cooler than expected, Mary and Ginger spent some time reading in Central Park. |
Back to baseball.
The 30 - 23 Cubs, in spite of having 11 players on the IL, convincingly took a game from the 34 - 21 Padres, 7 - 2. Much of that success was on the strength of a two home-run day for SS Javier Baez and 3B Patrick Wisdom, and a one home-run day for Kris Bryant, who is playng 1st base in place of the ailing Anthony Rizzo. Plus, that TBA pitcher, turned out to be RHP Kohl Stewart, 1 - 0, who pitched a masterful game and got the win. The Cubs and the Padres play again tonight @ 8:05 p.m., when RHP Kyle Hendricks, 5 - 4 takes the mound.
My beloved, 32 - 21 Red Sox were never in the game yesterday, as they fell to the 29 - 24 Astros, by the lopsided score of 2 - 11. Let's just say that losing LHP Eduardo Rodriguez, 5 - 4, hopes to turn the corner and put May in his rearview mirror. Tonight's game with RHP Garrett Richards, 4 - 3, on the mound begins @ 8:10 p.m.
The 22 - 32 Tigers fought valiantly all the way into extra innings, but they fell to the 29 - 25 Brewers in Milwaukee on a 10th inning walk-off base hit in the bottom of the inning, 2 - 3. The Tigers and the Brewers play again tonight @ 7:40 p.m. when LHP Matthew Boyd, 2 - 6, tries to get his game on for the Tigers.
The 14 - 9 Caps, fresh off of a six-game sweep of the 11 - 13 Lake County Captains, are in Midland, MI tonight to take on the 12 - 12 Great Lakes Loons @ 7:05 p.m.. The Caps are benefitting from the presence of some of those Tigers' prospects in their lineup.
I have my fifth and final knee injection this afternoon after I do some indoor chores. I am still working on other things too, but I got quite a bit accomplished yesterday, as did Mary. I think she is done with her bookmark and she spent time washing the lint out of the new towels for the downstairs bathroom.
We have the repairman coming to fix the malfunctioning ignitor on the stove. We've put it off for a while due to the covid-19 issues, but we feel safe enough now to get that repair done. Ciao.
