Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be, across the nation and around the world. It is just past 8:00 a.m. in "The City."

We have a current temperature of 56º under fair skies. A wind speed of 5 mph makes it feel like 55º. I guess that once the temperatures got cool enough, the wind becoemes a factor. Today's high-temperature forecast of 76º will be accompanied by a 60% chance for scattered showers this morning that could develop into T-storms during the afternoon., with also a 60% chance. STWD will not be happy. A somewhat comfortable RHI of 62% is also in the forecast from the NWS. As of this writing, nothing has appeared out my WW.

The sun will have already risen this morning @ 7:15 a.m. EDT and it will set later this evening @ 8:09 p.m. EDT.

My DTWS is showing a Barometric Pressure of 29.57" and steady, while the NWS in GR is reporting a Barometric Pressure of 30.15" and falling. Maybe that's why they have those T-storms in the forecast for thie afternoon.Me, I'll relyon STWD and my WW.

If all goes well, that watering I did yesteday will be good for several days.

We have a Beach Hazard Statement in the forecast from the NWS in GR, for Mason, Oceana, Muskegon, Ottawa, Allegan, and Van Buren counties from 10:00 a.m. today intil 4:00 p.m. tomorrow. The beachgoers we saw yesterday on our return fom our cemetery walkabout will not be pleased.

However, if you are foolhardy enough to consider venturing onto the beaches or into the waters of the "Big Lake", be advisied that there is also a Gale Warning in effect from St. Joseph to Manistee, i e, the majority of the lakeshore area from far south of GH to far north, from 10:00 a.m. today until 5:00 p.m. tomorrow.

Winds will be southwest at 20 to 30 knots, with gusts up to 35 knots with wave heights from 4 to 7 feet.  Strong currents can pull swimmers and surfers into deeper water and high waves can sweep people off piers.  Usually, a Small Craft Advisory is also in effect for the "Big Lake" too.

We took that walkabout with the fur-children yesterday, so if the storm predictions come true, which my view out the WW has yet to confirm, it will be good that we did that walkabout yesterday afternoon.

I didn't feel the photographic muse yesterday, so Mary in her role as out Senior Staff Photographer, took her camera along and took some pix that I generally would not, so that's all good. Here they are in no particular order.

Mary finds live tree shots appealing.

But, she also likes fallen trees too.

This marker has a scene on the back side of the life of a young man.

Christopher loved his dog and the woods.

You don't often see totems on markers.

But, when the marker is for a Native American, it makes total sense.

Jodi was well loved.

A person who loved the power of Lake Michigan.

A very tall monument as compared to the surrounding markers.

Michael loved his cat and music.

We are not sure if the stone on top of this marker has any significance. We know that the bird does.

A soccer lover?

We couldnot determine the significance of this inscription. Maybe a reference to "The Coach?"

The opposite side.

Like many of the markers in this part of Lakewood, this one was very creative.

As you may recall from a previous blog, we have had only one of Grand Haven's finest killed while on duty. Officer Scott Flahive was shot and killed during what should have been a routine traffic stop.

Baseball news was, to say the least, very interesting yesterday.

My beloved, 14 - 27 Red Sox defeated the 21 - 18 Blue Jays yesterday, 9 - 8 using several home runs that included one off the bat of rookie IF Bobby Dalbec among many. Today's game begins @ 1:35 p.m., when yet another in a long line of journeyman pitchers. RHP Andrew Triggs, 0 - 1, takes the mound.

The 17 - 20 Tigers sent rookieLHP Tarik Skubal to the mound yesterday, but in spite of his efforts, the bullpen caved in and theTigers lost yet another one to the 26 - 15 Twins, 3 - 4. Today's game @ 2:10 p.m. features rookie RHP Casey Mize, 0 - 1, going for the Tigers.

The 23 - 16 Cubs had total slumber in their lumber las night, as they lost both ends of a doubleheader to the 15 - 15 Cardinals, 2 - 4 and 1 - 5. The Cubs' starter in game one, RHP Albert Alzolay, was not impresive this time injust 2 2/3 innings. He gave way to a relief corp that didn't fare much better. The only bright spot in the game was the two home runs off te bat of Ian Happ, who had been hit in eye a couple of days ago.

Game two was even worse, as the Cubs sent RHP Colin Rea to the mound. He was okay, but the Cubs sure could use someone other than Yu Darvish to be a strong starting pitcher. If Darvish goes down, well... Tonight, the Cubs are the Sunday night feature @ 7:08 p.m. EDT, when LHP Jon Lester goes for the Cubs.

Otherwise, we have plans to watch the Downton Abbey movie this afternoon. This movie was made in 2019 to follow the fictional Crawlley family's lives afer the series ended. Will it be good? I'll let you know.

I have no other plans and I don't know about Mary. Ciao.
