Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be, across the nation and across the world. It is just after 6:00 a.m. in "The City."
The sun will rise today @ 7:24 a.m. and set later @ 7:55 p.m.
The
28 - 20 Cubs never looked back from the first pitch to the last, as RHP Alec Mills defeated the 20 - 24 Brewers
in Milwaukee by a
final score of 12 - 0. With a fastball that is generously clocked @ 90 mph, Mills used guile and breaking pitches to baffle the Brewers in what was only the 16th no-hitter in Cubs' history. The Cubs are off until Tuesday night when the 26 - 21 Indians come to town to face RHP Yu Darvish, 7 - 2 @ 8:15 p.m. EDT.
The 20 - 26 Tigers fell yesterday afternoon by a final score of 2 - 5. to that other 30 - 16 team from Chicago, when Tigers' RHP Spencer Turnbull, 4 - 3 couldn't overpower the hitters from that other team. The Tigers, like that other team, are now in a rebuilding mode that is similar to what that team underwent two years ago.The Tigers too are off today before they welcome the 20 - 28 Royals to Comerica Park for a 7:10 p.m. EDT game Tuesday night, as hard-luck LHP Matthew Boyd, 1 - 6 takes the hill.
It is time to add yet another sport to my blog, as the NFL season has begun play for the 1 - 0 Bears, who defeated the 0 - 1 Lions in a comeback win, 27 - 23, scoring 21 unanswered 4th quarter points. LIke all too many Bears teams in recent memory, the Bears dug themselves a huge hole early in the game and looked like they were heading down to defeat once again. But, Bears' QB Mitchell Trubisky finally found his rhythm at the QB position and the Lions penalized themselves out of the game to allow the Bears to win. The Bears and the Lions next meet on Devember 12, 2020 @ 1:00 p.m. EDT. Next week's Bears' game will be @ Soldier Field @ 1:00 p.m. when the Bears welcome the NY Giants, 0 - 0.
Mary finished her latest loaf of light-wheat bread yesterday that looks great and tastes delicious.
Whereas I make quick-breads, Mary prefers a long rise-time that has a better texture and flavor. I am too impatient for that. |
We did surprise the fur-children with a trip to the cemetery for a quick walk. We saw some grazing deer, but I didn't get any pix of them. However, I did take some pix of the flora within the cemetery grounds.
Sometimes a simple pic of a fallen oak-leaf cluster is eye-catching. |
Many times, the deer retreat into nearby Duncan Woods via this gate. |
While silk flowers abund there are some live plantings too. |
The forest primeval? |
Perhaps! |
A great place to insert a link from YouTube™ to one of the songs left by the late Dan Fogelberg, Longer. It is my way to commemorate our vist to the cemetery. I hope you can appreciate why I chose this song.

We have a current temperature of 54º under partly-cloudy skies. With a wind-speed of 3 mph, it feels like 53º. The forecast from the NWS calls for today's high temperature to reach 69º under partly-sunny skies with a RHI of 61%. Tonight's low will be a very comfortable 54º. There are very few days in the 70º range in the forecast from the NWS over the next ten days. so it looks like my days of wearing my summer uniform may be at an end. Sigh.
Today, we have nothing on our agenda except music, reading, puzzle-solving, and dog grooming/bathing. Tomorrow, we have an appointment at the fur-children's doctor for a blood test in the early afternoon. I think that's a good reason for Ginger to get a bath and grooming today. Ciao.
