Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be, across the nation and
across the world. It is just after 6:00 a.m. in "The City."
We have a current temperature of 64º under rainy skies. With
a wind-speed
of 10 mph, it feels like 64º.
The forecast from the NWS proved mostly correct foor yesterday and into today. We had rain in the afternoon yesterday that will be around only a short time today. We'll have partly-cloudy skies today until early this afternoon, then we should have partly-sunny/partly-cloudy skies the balance of the day.
We
have two conflicting Barometric Pressure readings. The NWS is reporting
29.89" and rising, while my own DTWS is showing 29.33" and steady.
Today's high will be a cooler 67º with a RHI of 75%.
The sun will rise today @ 7:13 a.m. and set later @ 7:57 p.m.
There is a Beach Hazard Statement in effect for Mason, Oceana, Muskegon and Ottawa counties until 4:00 p.m. EDT today.
High wave action, strong currents, and dangerous swimming conditions can
be expected. Piers may be heavily swamped by waves. Strong currents can pull swimmers into deeper
water and high waves can sweep people off piers.
There is also a Small Craft Advisory in effect for that same time period from Holland to Manistee. West winds from 10 to 15 knots with gusts up to 20 knots and waves 3 to 5 fee are likely.
The
27 - 20 Cubs came from behind last night to defeat the 20 - 23 Brewers in Milwaukee by a
final score of 4 - 2. Right-handed starting pitcher, Kyle Hendricks, 4 - 3, didn't get the decision, but he looked sharp through 7 2/3 innings, recording 7 Ks. The Cubs' once
again had to overcome slumber in the lumber, waiting until the 9th for back to back HRs, a 3-run dinger off the bat of RF Jason Heyward, and a solo home-run off the bat of newly acquired Ildemaro Vargas, @ Wrigley to seal the victory. The win went to reliever, Jason Adam, 1 - 1 and the save went to RHP Craig Kimbrel.
The
Cubs play the Brewers again today @ 2:10 p.m. EDT when RHP Mike Mills, 4 - 3, gets the starting nod.
My
beloved 16 - 31 Red Sox played some form of baseball last night before finally falling to the 30 - 16 Tampa Bay Rays in Tampa Bay, 4 - 5. Starting RHP Nathan Eovaldi, 2- 2, pitched very well in his short stint, and so the Sox should be able to count on him for next season when Chris Sale and perhaps Eduardo Rodriguez return. LHP Sale is coming off of Tommy Surgery and should be able to rejoin the rotaion sometime in the 2021 season. RHP Rodriguez was diagnosed with myocarditis, an inflammation of the heart that the team believes is a result of the left-hander's recent bout with the corona virus, and shut down for the seaon in July. At any rate, the Sox play out the season beginning today @ 1:10 p.m. EDT, when LHP Martin Pérez, 2 - 4 goes for the beloved.
The 20 - 25 Tigers sent their own Tommy John pitcher, RHP Michael Fulmer, 0 - 2 to the mound to continue his recovery in a season with no minor-league rehab starts available. He was blasted by that 29 - 16 other team from Chicago, and the Tigers fell hard, by a final score of 0 - 14. Fulmer departed but the loss went to him. The Tigers play against that other team from Chicago this afternoon in Chicago @ 2:10 p.m. when RHP Spencer Turnbull, 4 - 2 makes his next start.
Yesterday, we accomplished more than I'd hoped, but less than I'd wanted to. I bolted from bed to fed the fur-children and get them out before the rains began @ 12:10p.m. yesterday. We finished the indoor chores, I shredded some old paperwork, and Mary read and started some bread that she'll finish later today.
We also started a new 19 episode series starring Grosse Point, MI native J. K. Simmons as Howard Silk in Counterpoint. We liked it right away, so we have 18 more days of viewing during this pandemic. We also continued watching The Paradise too. In addition, we watched more of the sit/com Dharma and Greg. We've decided that we need a not so heavy series and a darker series for our viewing pleasure accompanied by some whimsy.
Today, I dunno. Ciao.
