Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be, across the nation and across the world. It is just after 5:30 a.m. EDT in "The City."

We have a current temperature of 62º under cloudy skies. With a wind-speed of 4 mph, it feels like 62º.

Cuuretnly, there is a 20% chance for showers until 7:00 a.m. that is showing on the radar, but we know how that truns out on most days/nights, don't we? When I sat down at my desk @ 4:30 a.m. EDT, that was a 35% chance, so... At 5:30 a.m., there was nothing going on outside the WW.

All of the statements, advisories, and warnings are no longer in the forecast.

Two conflicting Barometric Pressure readings of 30.13" and rising, and one from my DTWS of 29.51" and falling and would seem to be in conclict. Today's high will be a very comfortable 73º under cloudy to partly-cloudy will accompany a low RHI of 58%. It should be a very comfortable day for people on walkabout, but not so much for beachgoers.

Ginger and I espied both ends of the train run on the RSTL yesterday. At 9:00 a.m. EDT, MMRR EMD GP35-2 locomotives 2019 and 2025 passed by, with an interesting contingent of fully loaded cars in tow. Those cars included five DBTCs, two DWTCs, one rusty TC that was so rusty that its original color was long gone, two GTCs, nine CHCs, and 20 cars that I'd seen in one open version earlier this year, but which now sported complete covers, contents unknown.

Interesting.

Later, @ 12:04 p.m. EDT, we watched as both locomotives passed by heading north, deadheading, with no cars in tow.

Speaking of walkabout, the fur-children wanted to go on one yesteday, but we went out without them, on a trip that included a stop at the Fast Lane™ service provided by the local D & W Fresh Market™.

Mary prefers the produce from D & W, and I agree, that it is always fresher and longer lasting.

We parked in our preferred spot to await the order.

Since the traffic on US 31, Beacon Blvd., was very heavy heading north for the Labor Day weekend holiday, we returned home via a lesser used local street, Robbins Rd. That allowed us to cruise by the Grand Haven State Park and check out the beaches and the sights of the waterfront.

As is the norm on a Labor Day weekend, the state park, its campgrounds, and the parking areas were very crowded.

Since we were there, I snapped a few pix of the outer lighthouse, the waves along the shore that warned of the hazardous swimming conditions, and a boat in the channel leading to the "Big Lake", plus the idle BLP power plant on Harbor Island.

This shot taken from near the City Beach, belies the crowds at the Grand Haven State Park.

It is eerie knowing that the plant is slated for demolition this year and next.

The dunes of Dewey Hill obscure the plant, leaving only this shot of the nearly 200' cooling stack, once home to nesting peregrine falcons.

Heading out for an afternoon of adventure.

Making itself at home in our vast gardens, was one of the black squirrels that call GH home.

The squirrel was not concerned about our presence.

Once home, Mary and I finished the sandwich bread I had started earlier.

The texture and taste are excellent!

In baseball news, the 23 - 15 Cubs notched a win over the 14 - 15 St. Louis Cardinals last night, 4 - 1. RHP Yu Drvish, is being mentioned as a possible Cy Young candidate, owing to his 11 Ks and one earned run performance in the game. In addition, catcher Willson Contreras contributed three hits and four RBIs to the cause, including a home run.

The Cubs and the Cardinals play a doubleheader today, consisting of two 7 inning games, beginning @ 5:15 p.m. EDT, when RHP Alber Alzolay, 0 - 0, takes the mound for game one. Game two will follow shortly after game one and it is a makeup for a game scratched earlier due to the Covid-19 pandemic. No pitcher has been announced for that game.

My beloved, 13 - 27 Red Sox split with the 21 - 17 Blue Jays yesterday, losing game one, 7 - 8, but winning the second game, 3 - 2. Tonight's game @ 7:30 p.m. EDT will see RHP Ryan Weber, 0 - 2, going for the Sox.

Sadly, the 17 - 19 Tigers dropped both ends of their twin-bill in MN, losing game one, 0 - 2, and game two, 2 - 3.to the 24 - 16 Twins. So much for the Tigers' post-season dreams. Tonight's game features rookie LHP Tarik Skubal, 1 - 1, on the bump for the Tigers @ 7:10 p.m. EDT.

I am nearly done drying out the man-cave. I should finish today and then get on with reading, puzzle solving, music, and perhaps some kitchen activities once again. Mary will be working on her needle point project and may do more on one of her knitting projects. We'd go walkabout with the fur-children, but on a holiday wekend , that's not a good idea. Ciao.
