Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be. It is just past 4:30 a.m. in "The City."

Let's really keep this one short. Well, short for me anyway.

We have a current temperature of 57° under cloudy skies as the rain, that not even the NWS saw in-the forecast, came to pass. I won't have to water, so that's all good with me. However, it gets harder to get the fur-children to go out. In addition, the high today will only reach 60° before we get to a rainy and T-storming kind of day with a high temperature of 80 humid degrees on Friday. Sheesh, we go from furnace, to hot and needing the A/C. to colder and than back to humid and 80° The sun will rise today @6:06 a.m. and set later tonight @ 9:20 p.m.

No real change in the baseball news as three out of my four teams were idle. The Tigers split a double-header with the AL East leading Yankees, losing the first game, 4 - 7, but winning the second game, 4 - 2 in a game that had a slight dust-up between Tigers' starter, Mike Fiers and Giancarlo Stanton of the Yankees. In 2014, Fiers hit Stanton who was with the Marlins then, breaking his jaw and ending his season. However, three innings later, Stanton got a home run off Fiers, so being hit this time didn't hurt his batting nor end his season.

Good news, the Tigers drafted Casey Mize, a starting pitcher out of LSU, @ #1. Like Stephen Strasbourg, who pitches for the Nats, Mize was not drafted out of high school. The hope is that Mize will be the cream of this year's draft and bring his talent to "The Show" very soon and anchor the Tiger's pitching staff for many years, like future Hall of Famer, Justin Verlander. In addition, the Tigers drafted outfielder Austin Meadows, who can hit for power, and soon, could be the big-bat that the Tigers need in their line-up as other players, like Miguel Cabrera retire or are traded for more draft picks. At any rate, the Tigers are off to Boston to face my beloved Red Sox tonight @ 7:10 p.m.

Otherwise, I spent time in the kitchen yesterday making more of my famous Italian meatballs and my also famous spicy vegan sausages. Both turned out great and we had some sausages for dinner with corn. In the early afternoon, we walked with the fur-children to the library where Mary discovered that I had a sizeable number of books waiting on the shelf. Once again, we'll be taking advantage of the library's summer reading program, Beachcomber's Book Bingo, and reading 10 books to get the prize, a beach bag pictured here at the Loutit Library's website

We also made a trip to the mall for a curtain rod and then stopped @ Stan's in Spring Lake on the way home.

I almost forgot, Ginger and I did some trainspotting yesterday. We saw MMRR locomotives #2025 and #2019 heading south @ 9:00 a.m., towing 12 CHCs. Later, @ 1:56 p.m., we espied those same locomotives heading north towing two CHCs, and one-each of a DBTC, a DWTC, and one GTC.

Today, no watering required and nothing specific on tap. Mary, with my assistance, may get to that skirt for the sink in the mud room and I will try for another ride on my bike. I made a short ride yesterday and that went well. I am taking it slow to get my riding muscles back in shape. I'll continue to read my latest novel after reading today's edition of the Grand Haven Tribune. Ciao.
