Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be. It is just past 2:00 a.m. in "The City."

The internet is being very finicky this morning. I  love using different words in my blogs because many of them are often disused, misused, abused, or at least seldom seen. In this case, finicky means, at least according to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, overparticular, difficult, demanding, or exacting, just to give a few synonyms. In this case, the finicky internet is making listening to internet radio and saving this blog very difficult.

We have a current temperature of 65° under clear skies. However, there is a Beach Hazard Warning in effect for the entire eastern shore of the "Big Lake." That mans that there are strong, 15 - 25 mph, winds that can produce dangerous currents that make swimming very dangerous or even deadly, especially around piers. We have lost a number of swimmers over the years here in GH due to people ignoring the warnings. The sun will rise this morning @ 6:08 a.m. and set later tonight @ 9:17 p.m. In between, the NWS is forecasting a high temperature of 68° under mostly sunny skies.

Baseball news yesterday was once again mixed. The 30 - 23, 2nd in the NL Central Cubs, upended the 27 - 27, 4th in the NL East NY Mets, 5 - 1, behind a strong performance by starting pitcher Jose Quintana. I like it when the Cubs beat the Mets because of that 1969 thing. The Cubs and the Mets play again tonight @ 7:10 p.m.

My beloved, 39 - 18, 1st by 1.5 games over the 2nd place Yankees in the AL East, Red Sox, fell to the 1st in the AL West. 36 - 22 Astros, 2 - 4. The Sox just could not get their bats going. Starting pitcher, Drew Pomeranz, was said to be "making strides" when compared to his last three starts, but a loss is a loss. Mookie Betts still has soreness in his left side and missed his fifth straight game. 2nd baseman, Dustin Pedroia, experienced soreness in his surgically rebuilt left knee, so he was a scratch after taking batting practice. The Sox need Betts and Pedroia. The Sox and the Astros return to the field tonight @ 8:10 p.m.

The 26 - 30, 2nd in the AL Central Tigers, played an afternoon game yesterday against the 30 - 27 3rd in the AL West Angels, and came away with a 6 - 2 victory. I told you they were on a roll. 26 year old Ronny Rodriguez was called up from the Tigers' triple A farm team, the Toledo Mud Hens, the favorite of Cpl., Max Klinger of Mash fame, and Rodriguez responded with solid hitting and base-running. His single in the bottom of the 1st turned into one of five runs the Tigers scored on their way to win.

Rodriguez had been in the Indians' farm system the previous two years and went the minor-league free agency route and signed with the Mud Hens in hopes of getting a call to "The Show" as players like to call the Major Leagues. He felt that he had a better chance of getting called up to a rebuilding team like the Tigers. The Tigers welcome the hapless 25 - 31 Blue Jays to Comerica Park tonight @ 7:10 p.m.

The 28 - 25, 3rd in the MWL East Caps, won their suspended game yesterday against the 27 - 25, 4th in the MWL East Dayton Dragons, 10 - 1. However, things went haywire in the regularly scheduled game and they Caps lost to the Dragons, 3 - 8. The Caps are way behind the 1st place in the MWL East, 33 - 19, 1st place Lansing Lugnuts. The Caps move on to Bowling Green, KY, to face the 2nd place in the MWL East Hot Rods tonight @ 7:35 p.m.

I nearly forgot to mention that Mary, the fur-children and I went to the bank yesterday and picked up two rolls of nickels. Out of the 80 coins, I was able to find nine that AI could add to my collection. That's only 11%, but I 'll take it.

We also traveled to Spring Lake to do some shopping and picked up some additional flowers for the vast gardens. I'll be planting those today.

Otherwise, today is grooming day for the fur-children. Sugar was being stubborn last night and didn't want to make her final visit to the back yard. Does she suspect? I finally coaxed her down, with some strong assistance from Mary, around 12:00 a.m. this morning. We have John coming over today to do some things around the PE on which I don't want to waste my limited yak strength. I will finish that front-porch railing today too while Mary will be sewing or something. Ciao.
