Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be. It is just past 2:15 a.m. in "The City." This is an updated blog.

In baseball news, things are a bit better today.

Last night, the now 38 - 25, now 1st place in the NL Central Cubs, toppled the now 2nd place in the NL Central, 39 - 27 Brewers, 7 - 2. However, the Cubs waited until the 8th inning to tie the score @ two-all, before Jason Heyward got an RBI single. Then no scoring came again until the top of the 11th inning when Anthony Rizzo lead off with a home-run that opened the floodgates on a five-run inning that sealed the win for the Cubs. This is the first time since May1, that the Cubs have been in first place in the NL Central. The Cubs and the Brewers play again tonight @ 8:10 p.m. EDT.

My beloved, 45 - 22, 2nd in the AL East Red Sox, eked out a win, 2 - 0 in 12 innings, over the last place in the AL East, 19 - 46 Orioles. The Red Sox are still not producing runs in large numbers, which allows teams like the Orioles to play well against the Sox. The Sox and the Orioles play again tonight @ 7:05 p.m.

The 31 - 36, 2nd in the AL Central Tigers were off yesterday, after their drubbing on Sunday by the 1st place in the AL Central, 35 - 29 Indians, 2 - 9. As the Tigers play around the .500 mark in a weak division, there is always talk about whether the Tigers will be in the mood to trade veteran or young players to teams that are in the race for a division lead in either league. Players like Francisco Liriano and Mike Fiers were signed for their potential trade value if they have strong rebound seasons in 2018. Younger players, like Nick Castellanos or Michael Fulmer, might be available for trade if the return on them would bring the Tigers a good return.

If there are any takers for veteran first-baseman Miguel Cabrera, he too might be traded. That is if he would waive his 10 - 5, veteran player's right to veto a trade. That clause is in the agreement between the players association and the owners and allows players with 10 years of major-league service and five years with any team to veto a trade. That clause had to be waived last season to allow Justin Verlander to be traded to 2017's World Series™ Champions, the Houston Astros. Verlander is now the ace of the Houston staff and enjoying a resurgence of his own. Sadly, Miggy's history of injuries and his age may limit any interest in him. At any rate, the Tigers play the 28 - 34, Twins tonight @ 7:10 p.m. in Comerica Park.

The 32 - 32, 4th in the MWL East, West, MI White Caps, are in serious free-fall as they lost another game to the 33 - 30 South Bend, IN Cubs last night, 3 - 6. As the "A" level team for the Tigers, the Caps players are not staking a claim for their promotion up the minor-league ladder all the way to "The Show." The Caps head over to Midland, MI to play to the Great Lakes Loons tonight @ 7:05 p.m. The Loons are the "A" level affiliate of the LA Dodgers.

We have a current temperature of 68° under partly-cloudy skies. According to Bill Steffens, Chief Meteorologist @ WOOD TV/Radio in GR, there is a a 50% chance for T-storms in West, MI later this afternoon and a high temperature of 75°. I'm not counting on that rain event happening, so I'll be watering today just in case. The sun will rise in a few hours @ 6:05 a.m. and set later tonight @ 9:25 p.m.

In between, I'll be walking over to the chiropractor's office to pick-up my new orthotics and spending some time playing with the girls, something I also did yesterday. Of course, we'll be walking with the fur-children too. We also have John coming in to do some painting today too. Since he'll be working in the master-suite/Mary's office, we'll be taking some things downstairs that are currently there. Fortunately, I won't have to relocate any of my things, but Mary will.

In a side note, I just spent 15 minutes checking two rolls of nickels for my collection, Out of 80 coins, I found many of 1964 vintage, one that dated to 1940, and four that I could add to my collection. It is getting harder to say the least. Ciao.
