Good morning or good evening, wherever you may  be. It is just past 6:45 a.m. in "The City."

You may be wondering why I am so early or late writing this blog, but I can't really say. Like Dr. Rumack calmly asked of the pilot, Captain Clarence Oveur, in the classic film, Airplane, "How soon can you land?" Oveur replied to that question, "I can't really tell", etc. Oh what the hey, I'll let them say it in their own words. And no, I didn't eat the fish.

Meanwhile, back at the PE,  yesterday was a lazy day. We didn't get up until late and by then the rains had ended for a while. That allowed me to get out and walk STWD to The Bookman to pick up the weekend edition of the Grand Haven Tribune and later for us to get out and walk to the library to turn in some books and get credit towards the latest contest. I'm two up towards the required nine books read by the end of the summer.

Once we were home, we decided to forego a visit to this year's Feast  of the Strawberry Moon that is held annually on Harbor Island here in GH. Instead, we journeyed north to P.J. Hoffmaster State Park to view the vintage campers and some vintage cars that were there. As you may recall, we had thought about taking Ginger, but decided against it due to the possibility of mud. As it turned out, we were able to stay on paved roads, but it was easier without her. I took many different photographs, which of course you can view in large form by clicking on each one. The campers and the cars came in many shapes, colors, model years, and sizes. Mary suggested that I not add captions to them and just post them all, but I think I'll add a few captions anyway.

The first thing we saw as we entered the camping area.

A long view of the first road in the actual campground.

Most people brought all the comforts of home to the campground.

Same here.

A vintage Plymouth used as a tow car.

This is a beautiful example of a restored REO tow car/truck. By the by, REO is an acronym for Ransom Eli. Olds, who lent his name to General Motor's Oldsmobile line of cars, a name that is now history in the automotive world. Some authorities have suggest that Olds was the founder of the auto industry in America, not Henry Ford. Olds was born in Ohio, but grew up in Lansing, MI. I'll let the pundits debate that.

This home-built camper was mounted on the chassis of a rare 1950s era Studebaker truck. Studebaker started as a maker if wagons in South Bend, IN in 1852, and produced cars, that included the famous Avanti, until 1966.

Hard to believe, but this Shasta Camper was built in the 1960s and it is still on the road.

Pink was the color for many of the campers.

No comments need, except that the car in the background is a 1932? Ford roadster with a Flathead V8.

This outdoor kitchen really caught Mary's eye.

Time to go. A great shot of the woods at P.J. Hoffmaster.

Idyllic?
Elsewhere in the world, baseball was still being played.

The 37 - 24 Cubs scored two runs in the bottom of the 1st which held up to propel the 2nd place in the NL Central Cubs and starting pitcher Jon Lester, to a 2 - 0 win over the visiting 31 - 33 Pirates. The Cubs and the Pirates close out their series today @ 2:20 p.m. EDT.

My beloved 44 - 21, 2nd place in the AL East Red Sox defeated that other 4th place in the AL Central, 21 - 41, team from Chicago yesterday, 4 - 2. The Sox and that other team close out their series in Fenway Park today @ 1:05 p.m. EDT.

The 31 - 35, 2nd in the AL Central Tigers, defeated the 1st in the AL Central Indians, also by a score of 4 - 2. As I've previously noted, the AL Central is a weak division. The Tigers and the Indians close out their series today starting @ 1:10 p.m.

The 32 - 30, 3rd in the MWL East, West, MI, Whitecaps, played two yesterday against the 31 - 30 South Bend, IN Cubs, losing the first game, 3 - 5, but winning the second game, 6 - 1. The Caps and the Cubs play today @ 2:00 p.m. before they close out their series against each other on Monday evening @ 7:05 p.m., when rehabbing pitcher, Jordan Zimmerman of the Tigers takes the hill. Zimmerman has been on the Tigers' DL since May 8, with a shoulder impingement. He previously pitched last week with the Tigers Triple-A affiliate, the Toledo, OH, Mud Hens.

Today should be a slower day. We have no specific plans, I don't have to water and the baseball calendar is full. What more could a man ask? Oh, I'll be doing some indoor chores and reading today too.

The sun already rose today @ 6:05 a.m. and it will set later tonight @ 9:24 p.m. We have a current temperature of 61° under cloudy skies and there is between a 20% to 65% chance of additional showers, by this afternoon. If we are going to get the fur-children out today, it would have to be before 9:00 a.m.. Seems unlikely to me. Ciao.
