Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be. It is just past 2:30 a.m. in "The City."

I was not up until Ginger reminded me that she was, up that is. I took her down to go out, finished the dishes and made some vegetable broth for future cooking activities. When I say it like that, I feel like I've already had a full day.

Speaking of cooking activities, Mary made vegan gyros for dinner. That required a trip to the grocery store for some of the ingredients. That's part of where I came in. My contribution was finding the recipe on one of my recipe websites and then getting Mary to put that recipe into printable form. I also pulled up a chair in the kitchen to watch her work. Gee, I'm tired once again just thinking abut it. All of that activity came after the requisite visit by the cable technician. Things seem better, but they always do after a visit by a technician.

Mary prepared the prepared the ingredients, well actually two sets of ingredients, for the gyros, one using chickpeas and the other using Portobello mushrooms in lieu of meat. Lots of spices, some serious chopping, and some careful sauteing and voila, vegan gyros were ready to go. By the by, they are a keeper.

I am listening to Class of '69 radio on iHeart Radio instead of my regular Coast to Coast AM, with George Noory on WOOD radio out of GR. For some reason, that station keeps dropping. That's okay, because I love the old songs. Since I brought up the subject of "Old Songs", here is a version of that phrase in a song from YouTube and Barry Manilow.

In sports news yesterday, my teams went two for four, or .500.

The 2nd place in the NL Central, 33 - 23 Cubs, eked and squeaked out a sweep of the 4th place, in the NL East, 27 - 30 Mets, 2 - 0. The Cubs starting pitcher, Jon Lester, was on his game, but it took the Cubs a while to score those two runs in support. The Cubs are off until Tuesday evening, when they welcome the 31 - 26, 3rd in the NL East Phillies to the Friendly Confines @ 8:05 p.m. EDT.

My beloved, 41 - 19, 2nd by one game to the Yankees in the AL East Red Sox, split their weekend series in Houston against the 2nd place, 37 - 24 in the AL West Astros, with a 9 - 3 win. The Sox are mostly playing good, but often inconsistent baseball without Mookie Betts. The Sox are off until Tuesday evening too when they welcome the Tigers to Fenway Park @ 7:10 p.m.

A perfect chance to bring up the 2nd place in the AL Central, 28 - 31 Tigers following their loss to the 26 - 33, 4th in the AL East, 4 - 8 Blue Jays. The Tigers don't get a day off today as they will be playing a make up game @ Comerica Park against the 1st place in the AL East Yankees today @ 1:10 p.m., before the Tigers travel to Boston to face the Red Sox @ 7:10 p.m. Tuesday.

The now 28 - 28, 4th in the MWL East Caps are in a serious free-fall, as they fell once again to the 1st place, in the MWL East, 36 - 19 Bowling Green Hot Rods, 2 - 7. The Caps have the day off today before they come face to face with the 19 - 36, last place in the MWL East, Great Lakes Loons, @ 11:00 a.m. Tuesday. That is "Kids Day" at the @ the Fifth/Third Ballpark.

Otherwise, I did some indoor chores, and finished the crossword puzzle along with reading nearly all of my latest Spenser novel, written by Ace Atkins in place of the late Robert B. Parker, entitled Old Black Magic. Naturally, I am enjoying this book.

We have a current temperature of 56° that feels like 52° under cloudy skies. Later today after the sun rises @ 6:06 a.m. and long before it sets tonight @ 9:20 p.m. we'll see a high of only 65 sunny degrees. Ciao.
