Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be. It is just passing 5:00 a.m. in The City."

Our current temperature is 54° as we head towards the overnight low of 44°. Later today we are expecting a high of 62 partly sunny degrees. However by Friday, the high temperature will not exceed 50° with rain in the forecast. Saturday no rain, but a high temperature of 49° will greet me as I travel to the library for the first fall session of the Irish Jam. Additionally, Mary and I are planning to go to the farmer's market that morning. Good thing our plans called for taking the car to pick up some apples that I would not be able to carry.

Yesterday I saw the 1:30 p.m. passage of the southbound run of locomotives 2019 and 2057 as they rumbled through "The City." Somehow, I didn't see the northbound passage. In any event, the EMD GP 38 locos were slowly towing one BC, five CHCs, and a single DBTC was bringing up the rear as they passed.

Well, it's official, the Cubs open the NLCS at either the Dodgers or the Mets on Saturday. Both are coastal teams from areas where the weather has been less than ideal of late. As you may have noticed from my last blog, I am rooting for a match up with the Mets. Yesterday, the Royals eliminated the Astros in a stunner in the ALDS and are now set to face the Toronto Blue Jays in the ALCS.

Today I have an appointment for my annual physical. I don't anticipate any surprises as I have been feeling fine, but it is a good thing to do every year. I am not a believer in visits every six months, because I see no need to waste doctor time nor my money. My orthopedist is another story for my balky knees. I see hem every six months.

So my day today will be: walking to the hospital campus, probable blood tests, and a possible lunch at the hospital cafeteria, as I will have been fasting for 14 hours. Finally a stop at Guitar Haven on the way home in hopes that Dave has resolved my effects pedal problem with some contact cleaner. As of yesterday, he had narrowed the problem to a faulty or dirty connector.

Mary will be working on an index if she isn't going down some other wormhole. She will walk with STWD part way with me on the way to the doctor's, but will turn back before the intrepid weather dog wears out. Sugar isn't as young as she used to be. But then who is?

The sun will rise today at 7:58 a.m. and set at 7:02 p.m. Ciao.
