Good early morning GH. I thought I'd change my opening for this edition of Jaxmeanderings. It is just past 3:30 a.m. in "The City." Sadly my friends, there is no joy in Chicago or GH this morning, as the boys in blue flailed at the offerings of the Cardinals John Lackey, falling 0 - 4 as Mary and I watched from our stools at our favorite watering hole. But take heart, the boys take the field yet again for game two in St. Louis at 4:30 CDT or 5:30 EDT tonight.
Elsewhere in the blogosphere, we'll be walking over to the farmer's market later this morning. STWD will be coming along as were heading out for her morning walk at the same time. Then we'll be out in the gardens of the PE doing a little fall planting and bed prepping. Some spinach and lettuce should grow well in our cold frame.
In sports, I've already given the bad news about the boys in blue, so I"ll move on to the MSU Spartans game versus the Rutgers Scarlet Knights at 8:00 p.m. tonight. Next week, the Spartans' opponent will be the Wolverines of Michigan. Coincidentally, the Wolverines will be playing this afternoon against the Northwestern Wildcats at 3:30 p.m. EDT. The NIU Huskies take on the Ball State Cardinals at 3:30 p.m. I'm still not prepared to pay attention to hockey.
Trainspotting yesterday could best be described as spotty. The southbound run came through at 9:50 a.m. with locomotives 2019 and 2057 towing a short mix of cars. Five CHCs, six DBTCs, one BC, and three DWTCs with one bringing up the rear.
At 1:07 p.m., the northbound run occurred while STWD and I were out walking. We made it to our side of the tracks in time to watch its passage. Sugar was less than thrilled as locomotives 2057 and 2019 rolled loudly past, wailing the horn. 27 CHCs, one BC, and two DWTCs were in the mix.
Later this morning, the sun will rise at 7:52 a.m. and then set later at 7:10 p.m. Ciao.
