Today's high temperature following the sunrise @ 7:00 a.m. will reach 81° under sunny skies, well before the sunset @ 8:32 p.m.
I didn't get out much yesterday. I made it to my orthopedist appointment, but that was about it. However, Mary and Ginger took a long walk over to Linear Park on Harbor Island. The sign that proclaims that the land is Linear Park was taped over, so Mary has no idea what will become of one of their favorite places. At any rate, they took some great pix over the last couple of days, so here they are.
Neither Ginger nor Mary had any idea why the sign was taped over. |
But a nearby bench was a great place from which to shoot some pix of the crane. |
And these ducks. |
This is Duck Pond on Harbor Island. |
From the far end of Linear Park, the channel looks very inviting. |
The site of the former Grand Haven Tribune building is soon to be the site of apartments that will utilize the Tribune name in their name. |
Baseball news yesterday was 1 - 5.
That's because the 53 - 70 Cubs and rookie RHP Javier Assad shut down the 71 - 52 Cardinals in game one, 2 - 0 in a doubleheader. In fact, Assad was excited that his first MLB strikeout was versus future Hall of Fame Cardinal, Albert Pujols. The Cubs' future looks bright if Assad can do it again, "Next Year."
However, in game two, the Cubs and losing RHP Adrian Sampson, 1 - 4, were thoroughly outplayed by the Cards, 3 - 13. Tonight's game in Wrigley Field begins @ 8:05 p.m. with another rookie RHP, Luke Farrell, 0 - 0, on the mound for the Cubs.
My beloved 60 - 63 Red Sox and losing RHP Josh Winckowski, 3 - 9, couldn't get the job done versus the 66 - 55 Blue Jays last night and they lost, 3 - 9. Tonight's game in Fenway Park begins @ 7:10 p.m. with rookie RHP Brayan Bello, 0 - 3, on the bump for the Red Sox.
The 47 - 77 Tigers are definitely going home in the fall. With so many starting pitchers either on the IL or missing in action, they just look bad. In their game yesterday, they fell to the 61 - 61 Giants, 1 - 3.
However, it was said by one of the announcers that the Tigers flashed some serious leather in the outfield. Having watched part of the game, I can attest that RF Willi Castro was a lone bright spot for the Tigers from left field. The Tigers and RHP Matt Manning, 1 - 3, take the field this afternoon @ 1:10 p.m.
Finally, the now 60 - 55 Caps are not showing much right now, as they dropped one to the 65 - 50 South Bend, IN Cubs last night, 1 - 2. The Caps and the SB Cubs play again tonight @ 6:35 p.m.
Yesterday, a serviceman came by to tune up our garage door. That took about 15 minutes, but I like to defer to a man with knowledge and a ladder when it comes to garage doors.
Today, STWD has an appointment to have a pawdicure. Mary plans to go to the Farmer's Market, sans her wing gal, Ginger, to see if Mary can procure some salad greens. I don't grow those in our vast gardens.
Speaking of which, Pink is still blooming and I'll have to water her and the vegetable and other flora again today.
Mostly, we will be print reading, ear-reading, watching the world go by, and enjoying retirement. Ciao.
