Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be. across the nation and across the world. It is just past 4:30 a.m. in "The City."

A current temperature under clear skies of 57°, shares the distinction of being the low, "Real Feel", and actual temperatures right now, with only a sight breeze out of the south @ one mph. The RHI is a bit high @ 91%.

Today's high temperature will reach 78° with an overnight low of 63° under clear skies. There is no rain in the forecast until Thursday's 24% chance, so it is likely that I'll be watering again tomorrow, just as I did yesterday.

The sun will rise today @ 6:59 a.m. and set later @ 8:34 p.m. Yes, the summer is drawing to a close, as is "The Season" here in Grand Haven.

Not much to report in the baseball world, as only the  52 - 69 Cubs played last night. In spite of a stellar pitching performance by RHP Drew Smyly, the Cubs fell by a final score of 0 - 1, recording only one hit off the bat of rookie Chris Morel. Either the Cardinals pitcher, Jordan Montgomery, 7 - 3, is the second coming of Cy Young, or the Cubs once again had slumber in the lumber. I guess that both things are true.

The effort by Smyly bodes well for next season. Yes, I am saying, "Wait til next year!" That's because the Cubs have some good young arms in the mix as starters and in the bullpen, and Kyle Hendricks should return following successful repairs to a tear in his shoulder. But, only time will tell.

The Cubs play two today, with game one in Wrigley beginning @ 2:20 p.m. with another rookie RHP, Javier Assad, 0 - 0, pitching for the Cubs, and game 2 beginning @ 8:05 p.m. with no pitcher yet announced for the Cubs.

Otherwise, there has been no change for my other teams.

My beloved 60 - 62, Red Sox are home to face the 65 - 55 Blue Jays @ 7:10 p.m. with RHP Josh Winckowski, 5 - 6, on the mound for the Sox.

As previously reported, the 47 - 76 Tigers are also home to face the 60 - 61 Giants, with RHP  Drew Hutchinson, 1 - 6, on the mound for the Tigers beginning @ 7:10 p.m.

Finally, the Caps are also at home to face the South Bend, IN Cubs beginning @ 6:35 p.m. The Caps are still stinging from their double loss last Sunday.

Today bodes well, as I started a new book that has been labeled a "Beach Read." I'd agree, but it is turning out to be fun, so why not?

I have my first of five orthopedist appointments this afternoon for injections to help my aging knees. The injections are very effective, so a little pain is worth the gain.

Otherwise, Mary will be getting a replacement for a damaged part of her equipment that was supposed to help her with that aforementioned stitching project. Alas, she has no fabric and only some of the floss for said project. Oh well, she is making progress on a Halloween-themed cross-stitch project right now.

We'll continue to ear-read book number six in the Maggie Hope series too, which we spent part of yesterday afternoon enjoying on our deck.

I understand that Mary has found another book for her own ear-reading too.

Ciao.
