The current temperature of 75° is, or was, our overnight low. Today's high temperature will be a humid 81° with a RHI of 81%, which will make it very uncomfortable for most outdoor activities. Plus, it will take forever for latex paint to dry too. Otherwise, there are no advisories, alerts, statements, warnings, nor watches in today's foreeast.
I'd like to say that we accomplished a lot yesterday, yeah, I'd like to say that, but I can't, because about all we did was ear-read, cross-stitch, play music, read newspapers, solve crossword puzzles, and take Ginger to her spa appointment. I guess that's quite a lot by some standards.
The 41 - 61, last place in the NL Central Cubs, were not in action yesterday due to a postponement in St. Louis for a game that was to be against the 2nd place 55 - 48, 2nd place Cardinals. So, today. the Cubs will play two, with game one beginning @ 1:15 p.m. as RHP Marcus Stroman takes the mound for the Cubs, with game two beginning @ 7:15 p.m. with the Cubs' pitcher TBD.
One semi-bright spot for the Cubs. They will be playing in Dyersville, IA, August 11, versus the Cincinnati Reds @ 7:00 p.m. What can I say, two teams with sub-500 records playing in a Field of Dreams.
My beloved, 53 - 53, last place in the AL East Red Sox, lost to the 68 - 38, 1st place in the AL West Astros yesterday, 1 - 6. Tonight, the Sox travel to Kansas City for a game against the 41 - 64, last place in the AL Central Royals @ 8:10 p.m., with RHP Nick Pivetta, 8 - 8, on the bump for the Sox.
The 42 - 64, 4th place in the AL Central Tigers, will be home tonight for a game versus the 55 - 49, 3rd place in the AL East Rays, @ 7:10 p.m., as RHP Drew Smyly, 1 - 4, goes for the Tigers. Oh, the Tigers fell to the 55 - 49, 1st place in the AL Central Twins yesterday, 1 - 4.
Finally, the overall 53 - 45 in the Midwest League Caps, dropped one to the 38 - 60 overall Lug Nuts in Lansing yesterday afternoon, 1 - 8. The Caps were mired in the middle of the Midwest League East standings, with a 31 - 35 record in the first half of ot the 2022 season. But, they are now in 1st place in that division, with a 22 - 10 record. The Lug Nuts were last in that division in the 1st half, with a 25 - 41 record, but they are now 13 - 19 in the 2nd half.
One observation, the MLB™ divisions are so diverse, that a 53 - 53 record can place a team last in a division, while a 42 - 64 record can place a team in 4th in another. Go figure.
So today looks to be a day of retirement. No watering, no outdoor activities, and only a P/T appointment for me. We'll continue to ear-read and cross-stitch, while I may get to more music and other non-strenuous activities. Ciao.
