Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be, across the nation and across the world. It is just past 8:30 a.m. in "The City" where the current temperature is 51° and it feels like 51° with a wind out of the north @ 2 mph.

Today's high temperature forecast from the NWS varies. On the website I like to consult, their own forecast conflicts within one sentence. Oh well, I'll go with a high of 59°, but I think it will be higher. Or not.

There are reportedly showers in the vicinity, but a quick look out the WW has proved indeterminate. One thing is for certain, the sun did rise this morning into cloudy-skies @ 6:20 a.m. and it will set later @ 9:02 p.m. Showers may develop this afternoon.

The 18 - 19 Cubs traveled to Detroit for a game last night versus the 13 - 25 Tigers. Once again, Tigers' LHP Tarik Skubal, 0 - 6, looked sharp early in the game, but he quickly fell apart and the Cubs went on to win the game, 4 - 2 as RHP Jake Arrieta came off the IL and pitched well for the win and an overall record of 4 - 3. Once again, former MVP and Rookie of the Year, Kris Bryant looked good playing centerfield and nailed a two-run homer to ice the game. Today's game in Detroit begins promptly @ 4:10 p.m. when RHP Trevor Williams, 2 - 2 takes the mound for the Cubs versus RHP Jose Urena, 1 - 4 for the struggling Tigers.

My beloved 24 - 16 Red Sox used a two-run homerun off the bat of Bobby Dalbec to eke out a 4 - 3 win over the 16 - 24 Angels last night. The Sox and the Angels also begin their game today @ 4:10 p.m. when LHP Martin Perez, 0 - 2, pitches for the Sox.

The 3 - 6 Caps are also struggling, just like their parent team the Tigers, as they lost a close game to the visiting 4 - 6 Great Lakes Loons, 2 - 3. The Caps and the Loons play again tonight @ 6 :35 p.m.

Mary and I walked with STWD to the library to drop off some books and then it was time for Sugar, Mary, and me to head home so that Mary could head out once again with Ginger to the waterfront. I like to reserve my energies for future endeavors, like gardening, so I didn't go along.

At any rate, Mary and Ginger went to the waterfront and Mary took some nice pix before returning home via Washington Ave. and the downtown. Ginger has lost most of her socialization skills during the Pandemic lockdown, so Mary is having to refresh Ginger's memory. I have it on good authority that Ginger is doing well. Shortly after their return, Mary chopped, boiled, and sautéed to make a delicious dinner. More on that later. Here are what I think are the best pix.

Mary had to wait to get the passing boat in the same shot with the bandstand. Well done!

Same shooting location, just a different angle to capture two boats passing in front of Dewey Hill.

Mary and Ginger moved farther south, and then Mary shot the backside of the renovated train depot.

Looking up channel towards Spring Lake.

As promised, here is a longer description of Mary's dinner efforts that resulted in vegan Haluski (cabbage noodles) with smoky tofu. Mary chopped spring garlic, boiled noodles, made a terrific smoky marinade with maple syrup and other spices for the cubed tofu that she browned before adding the cabbage and the noodles. This old family recipe is a definite keeper.

Today, gardening, weather permitting, music, baseball, reading, cooking etc. We picked up more flowers Thursday and yesterday, both annuals and perennials, along with some roses for our parkway garden. We will be busy out in the vast gardens. The fur-children will get to be outside once we move from the front to the back. Ciao.
