Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be. It is just past 2:30 a.m. in "The City."

Where shall I begin, to tell the story.. Oops, I was channeling the theme song from the movie Love Story there for a minute.

But I once again digress. We didn't go to the inaugural GHFM (Grand Haven Farmer's Market) because we really didn't need anything and we just had too much to do yesterday. Instead, we divided our mornig safari with me accompanying STWD and Mary going to the library for pick-ups and drop-offs. That sounds a bit like the ending to the NPR radio program Car Talk, when hosts ray and Tom, AKA Click and Clack, describe the various staff members that made the show possible.

We made our first stop after the safari at the local odds and ends shop, Vintage Green. We only bought a prism for Mary's Office window, but it should provide some nice rainbows. Next stop, the Book Man to pick up a book we had on order and to order another that Mary wanted.  We also made it to the big-box home center to get that mulch that was not in stock earlier in the week, They had it back in stock, but it was literally flying out the door as fast as the people could load cars. I got one other item, but that was enough at that stop.

Finally we made it to the mall, where the first stop at the big-box retailer was unrequiting when it came to getting new shoes for Mary. Customer service was abysmal. We stopped at another shoe retailer, but they did not sell women's shoes. However, in a remarkable display of customer service, the clerk there recommended that we go to another store in the mall. At that store, we learned more about what real customer service should look and feel like. Numerous pairs of shoes were brought out, properly tied, and tested until Mary found what she wanted. She also got some new sandals that she really likes. A total success. As compared to the big-box store at the mall, this was a terrific experience.

A quick stop at the big-box tool store and then home. We walked to our favorite watering hole, and there we ate dinner and watched part of the Cubs game. A satisfactory ending to a busy day. We came home, watched more of the game, and then I got tired and came up to the media room, where I proceeded to fall asleep in the chair. While I was sleeping, Mary made some spicy cannellini beans. The taste is the same as my perennial favorite, spicy chickpeas, but the texture is different. I like them just fine. When I awoke in my media room chair, I made it to the bed and was there until it became time to blog.

In sports, Cubs Win!, by a score of 8 - 5 over the Nats. That means that the boys in blue stay atop the NL Central with a record of 23 - 6. The Tigers continued their freefall, losing to the Rangers 5 - 10, in spite of  Miggy's multiple hit game. That leaves the Tigers with a sub .500 AL Central record of 14 - 15, good for 4th place. My beloved Red Sox lost big time to the Yankees, 2 - 8. The Sox are now firmly in 2nd place in the AL East. The Caps were also crushed, 2 - 10, by the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. That places the Caps in 6th place in the MW League East. Sigh.

The current temperature is 45° that has a real feel of 45°, according to the NWS. My DTWS with its FPMS, is showing 48°. In all cases, the high for Mother's Day is forecast to be 63 partly cloudy degrees. I hope to air up the tires on my bike for the inaugural ride that will be short, but sweet. That's after the mornig safari with the intrepid one. I'm betting that Mary will appreciate my being gone for a while as my gift on Mother's Day. While it looks as though the high temperatures will stay in the 60s from now on, by Wednesday, rain is a significant part of the forecast from the NWS. Until then, watering is in order for the gardens of the PE.

I don't plan to get to placing that mulch until Monday or Tuesday, and the weather should cooperate. The sun will rise today at 6:28 a.m. and set at 8:54 p.m. Ciao.
