Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be. It is just past 1:30 a.m. in "The City."

I was up doing nothing after listening to my beloved Red Sox defeat the Yankees in the rain, 8 - 7. That victory allows the Sox to move into 1st place in the AL East with a record of 15 - 10, just 0.5 games ahead of the Orioles. The Yankees are firmly mired in last place of that same division with a record of 8 - 15. The Tigers eked out a win over the Twins with a score of 6 - 5. That gives the Tigers a hold on 2nd place in the AL Central with a record of 14 - 10. The boys in blue didn't fare as well, as they fell to the lowly Braves, 3 - 4. The Cubs are still in first place in the NL Central, with a record of 17 - 6, also a 3.0 game lead over the PIrates. The Cubs are off to Pittsburgh to face those Pirates for a short three game road trip that begins tonight at 7:05 p.m.

The Caps slid past the Quad Cities River Otters in game one of their double-header, 2 - 1. Game two was rained out. The Caps are in 5th place in the MW League East.division, with a record of 11 - 11. I noticed that that other team from Chicago also won yesterday, to hold a 3.0 game lead over the Tigers, with a record of 18 - 8. Sorry folks, but I keep hoping that if I don't name them, they may yet go away.

Yesterday, we didn't have that bagel with a schmear. Mary surprised me with French toast and genuine maple syrup, along with vegan breakfast sausages. We did watch CBS Sunday Morning and then took a long morning safari with STWD. Mary decided to err on the side of caution and to find some fabric to make a prototype of my new chair pillow ala Norm Abrams of The New Yankee Workshop and This Old House fame. That's because the guitar fabric that we got in Plymouth, WI and that she plans to use, cannot be replaced easily, if at all. I wholeheartedly concur.

We took a walk to our favorite watering hole for dinner to add more steps to our total for the week, which ended yesterday. I logged 6,750 steps while Mary logged a few more. She runs around the house more than me. Overall, that gives me 44,385 steps or 17.9 miles. Not bad as compared to most Americans, but not the 70,000 steps plus weekly goal that we set out to walk, nor our eight week goal of enough steps to make 288 miles on our virtual walk from St. Ignace to GH. We'll keep on keeping on though.

Currently, the view out the WW and on the "Desktop Weather Station" indicates rain. A current temperature of 48° that feels like 42°, The NWS has forecast a high today 60° under mostly sunny skies. Tuesday is supposed to be about the same. We won't see the mid-60s until later this week. While I did see young people in their shorts and T-shirts yesterday afternoon, I have temporarily returned to long jeans and long sleeve shirts for the foreseeable future. Ahh, to be young.

Today we plan to travel to Holland to see a photo journalist present on orangutans. That comes sometime after I return from the morning safari with the intrepid one and after Mary returns from her stretching session at the  library. Otherwise, I will spend some time with one or more of the girls and do more reading in The Witches. Our discussion session for that book is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.

The sun will rise at 6:37 a.m. and set at 8:48 p.m. Ciao.
