Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be. It is just passing 1:00 a.m. in "The City."
Naturally since it is after 1:00 a.m., I'm listening to George Noory on Coast to Coast AM. As you may recall, his show's theme song, as performed by UFO Phil, is the inspiration for my regular greeting each night. This morning, George Noory is discussing ghost hunting and ghost hunting locations with his first guest, Rick McCallum. Before that, I was listening to Clyde Lewis, a renowned believer in all things paranormal on Ground Zero.
But I digress, as I often do. Did I mention, Cubs Win! Cubs Win! Cubs Win! If I didn't, let me reiterate, Cubs Win!, by a score of 5 - 2 over the Washington Nationals, with Kyle Hendricks on the mound and Ben Zobrist contributing four RBIs, Cubs Win! They maintain their hold on 1st place in the NL Central with a record of 21 - 6. Dexter Fowler was ejected for questioning a third strike call, which required Jason Heyward to come into the game to play center field, one day before he was expected to return to the lineup.
The Tigers are once again in free fall. They lost to the Indians, 4 - 9, to give them a record of 14 - 13 and 4th place in the AL Central, as the Indians swept the Tigers. My beloved Red Sox were once again victorious over that other team from Chicago, by a score of 7 - 3. That gives the AL East leading Red Sox a record of 17 - 11. The Caps were also victorious, beating the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers by a score of 5 - 3. However with a record of 13 - 12, the Caps are in 6th place in the Midwest League East.
I learned something tonight, We spent a lot of time in the car earlier today visiting big-box stores for groceries and other sundry things. That much time in a car makes my Yak ache, in spite of my chair pillow. I'm using the pillow with just a regular case until its custom case is created. That may have to wait, as Mary will be off to the mall to buy a new pair of spring/summer sandals. I'll be home reading and playing with the girls. I'm now two newspapers behind, with a third being added to the reading list during the morning walk with STWD.
Speaking of the intrepid one, we walked over to the groomer yesterday to take advantage of their regular Thursday special of $5.00 for a nail trim. Sugar as usual wasn't thrilled about going in, but she isn't quite big enough to resist.
It was a beautiful day for walk, so that made it easier. Today the NWS is forecasting a sunny day with a high of 66°. That is probably optimistic for GH given our location along the shores of the "Big Lake." Right now, the temperature is 44° per their site, while on the "Desktop Weather Station" with its front porch mounted sensor, 46° is the temperature. In both cases, no rain is in the forecast until Saturday when isolated T-storms are predicted at 30%. Mother's Day is still forecast to be sunny with a high of 61° and no precipitation.
Mary served her latest vegan gluten flour based ham for lunch along with sweet potatoes. She had previously created two delicious sauces, one for the ham and another for the sweet potatoes. Both are keepers. Dinner was chipotle veggie burgers that we had purchased earlier.
No further plans for today outside of the regular morning safari with STWD and more walking, before visiting the chiropractor this afternoon. Trains are a possibility, as this is Friday, but you never know.
The sun will rise at 6:31 a.m. and set at 8:52 p.m. Ciao.
