Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be. It is just past 5:00 a.m. in "The City." I guess it is probably closer to morning than evening here, but that's the way to story goes sometimes.
Yesterday, I didn't accomplish much, which was my original plan. I took the morning walk with STWD, and then we set out for our safari to Coopersville and Rockford, MI that is. We had to stop at the farm museum in Coopersville, which is about all that there is to see in that small town. There is an Interurban Railway museum there too, but owing to its volunteer status, it is closed on Thursdays. I should mention that the Coopersville and Marne Railroad museum is there too. But it is only in operation some day s of the week due to its volunteer status too.
Rockford was about one-half hour away. Their sidewalk sale was in full swing, but we were there to see the town, not buy things. We did have lunch at the local hot dog purveyor, The Corner Bar. That alone is enough of a reason to go to Rockford. They have the best veggie dogs around.
We returned home to find that STWD was glad to be the recipient of Gwen's "Doggie Box" contents, which consisted of an all-beef hot dog, something the intrepid one doesn't get around here. I think she liked it. At The Corner Bar, hot dogs come in pairs, much to Sugar's later delight. Somehow, the ironic symbolism of Sugar eating a hot dog was lost on her.
Mary used the leftover grilled veggies from the night before to make a tasty dinner of spaghetti noodles mixed with those veggies, a little olive oil, and garlic. By the time dinner was over, I was ready for bed, and so I left Mary and Gwen to their own pursuits.
Major League Baseball returns from its All-Star break today/tonight. Let the games begin. The Caps did play last night, and defeated the South Bend Cubs, 5 - 4.
No trains were spotted yesterday.
According to the forecast from the NWS, the weather today opens with T-storms, but they should be gone by about 11:00 a.m., when the fog moves in. Then, we will have a mostly cloudy day until the T-storms return around 6:00 p.m. We have more travel plans for today, but those are somewhat dependent on the weather. It started raining on schedule last night around 8:30 p.m. and is continuing now. We may see a lull for a few hours later this morning, but that too is subject to interpretation.
Given the rainy conditions, I have no plans to do anything but read and walk with STWD. However, if the T-storms materialize, she won't be going out.
The girls and I will get to play too.
The sun will rise at 6:20 a.m., and set at 9:21 p.m. Ciao.
