Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be, across the nation and across the world. It is just past 5:00 a.m. in "The City."

We have a current temperature of 71º under partly-cloudy skies. Today's high temperature is forecast to reach 77º, also under partly-cloudy skies. Unfortunately, like yesterday, the Relative Humidity Index calls for the RHI to be a sultry 69%, making for less than pleasant outdoor conditions for us folks of a certain age. Tonight's low is forecast to be 63º, also a near repeat of yesterday.

We finally got the heavy-rains that were in the forecast. They did not break up over the "Big Lake." I won't have to water the vast gardens today. The barometric pressure is  29.84" and rising per the NWS and 29.24", also rising according to my DTWS, an indicator of no additional precipitation until at least Sunday. I'm not holding my breath.

I had some able assistance from my Apprentice Handyman/Handywoman yesterday as I changed out that leaking soap dispenser in the kitchen. Normally, I ask her to stay out of the way, but since I needed to lay on the floor, extend my arms into the area under the sink and turn the pieces to remove and replace them, I needed help up top. She still has some issues with that lefty-loosey, righty-tighty concept, but overall, her assistance was invaluable.

Baseball news is still very much up in the air. The 10 - 3 Cubs return to the field tonight @ 7:10  p.m. EDT versus the 10 - 7 Indians in Cleveland. LHP Jon Lester, 1 - 0, goes for the Cubs. Cubs' manager David Ross was quoted as saying that Ian Happ is the "Real Deal" in Center Field, and so he is now a fixture there until he isn't. Sadly, one-time hopeful at that position, Albert Almora Jr., has not lived up to expectations and is being used as a late-inning defensive replacement. He may be another of those Cubs players who need a change of scenery.

My beloved, 6 - 10 Red Sox finally saw J.D. Martinez get his first home run. Unfortunately, that wasn't enough as the Sox lost to the 9 - 8 Tampa Bay Rays, 7 - 8. Both teams try again tonight @ 7:30 p.m. EDT when LHP Martin Perez, 2 - 1, takes the hill for the Sox.

The surging, or is it roaring, 9 - 5 Tigers, are off to their best start since 2015, with their latest win over that other team from Chicago and their record of 8 - 9. LHP Dan Norris, 1 - 1, got the win for the Tigers. Tonight's game @ 7:10 p.m. EDT features the stylings of LHP Tyler Alexander, 1 - 0 for the Tigers.

In other sporting news, the Big-10 and the PAC-12 have canceled their fall football seasons due to the Covid-19 pandemic that the pretend POTUS claims is under control. He thinks that the players should disregard the number of positive cases and the death numbers and play. Fortunately, the powers that be at the various universities disagree.

I heard the passage of the train yesterday @ 8:45 a.m., I think heading north, but that's all I know.

We were in binge-watching mode yesterday, as we watched yet another episode of The Man in the High Castle, and two more episodes of Downton Abbey. Maybe not too ambitious, but once you have been the once retired, but now pressed into service again home handyman, that's about the best you can get.

I put down the book I've reading, not because it wasn't interesting, but because I have several books that are on loan from the library with more in the queue. So I can go back to that other book I own when I have no library books to read.

Mary is working her way through a book too, but I forget the title.

We collectively solved another crossword puzzle too.
We have a calendar in the kitchen featuring dogs of various breeds. Yesterday's dog was this Yorkie who bears a strong, albeit a smaller resemblance to Ginger.

We all love our fur-children, don't we?
Before I sign out, I have been listening to Pandora™ radio. I have the Peter and Gordon channel on right now and they were playing Turn, Turn, Turn by the Byrds, and featuring Roger McGuinn on vocals and playing his Rickenbacher 12-string electric guitar. Rickerbakers were the favorite of many 1960s bands due to their unique sound. which was produced by their electronics and the reverse way that Rickenbacker strung the 12 strings, with the bass-octave strings being placed lower. That's kind of technical, but the point is that the sound was great and nothing else compares.

I copied this image of a similar guitar from the Google Images™ website for your edification.
Here is a link tot he Byrds playing Turn, Turn, Turn. I love that sound! How about those 60s mop-top hair styles?
