Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be. It is just past 2:30 a.m. in "The City."

Let's start with the weather. Yes, Adam, I know that I may sound like a curmudgeon, but that's the beauty of being of a certain age. Wait your turn.

The current temperature is 71° under clear skies, As I gazed out the WW, not much was happening and it was not "A dark and stormy night." However, when Friday rolls around that is supposed to change According to the forecast from the NWS, there is an 80% chance of T-storms. Some may even be severe. This being GH, I'll await the forecast from STWD. However, the NWS is predicting that today's high temperature will be 86° under partly cloudy skies. The sun will rise @ 6:46 a.m. and set @ 8:52 p.m. That's something that is based on the rotation of the earth, not on a forecast from the NWS.

Yesterday was an odd day in trainspotting on the RSTL. At 11:25 a.m., the regular cast of locomotives had returned to lead the empty cars during their southward journey. Engines 2057 and 2019 were towing two DBTCs and 18 CHCs, with two of those @ the end of the train.

It wasn't until 7:28 p.m., that the same locomotives returned heading north towing seven CHCs, and two DBTCs that were @ the end of the train. I don't believe that I've seen a train that late before. Go figure.

Mary went off to Holland for her sock knitting club yesterday. Since STSD and I had baked my famous banana nut bread the day before, Mary took a few slices of that for the ladies in her club. I have it on good authority that it was well received.

While in Holland, Mary stopped in at the frame store to pick up the drawing that Adam and Steph got for me. Here is a picture of that drawing in its frame. The car on the left is the same as the Camaro that I owned a long time ago. To buy that car today, you could easily spend upwards of $40,000 for one in good condition and north of that if the car is well restored. That for a car that was a shade over $4,000 new. We all had things that if we had kept them would be like money in the bank. Sigh.

We selected a frame that matches the Nickey Chevrolet print for simplicity and because we like the style in my office. I'll be hanging it later today near the Nickey Chevrolet print in my office.

After my outdoor chores, and after Mary had returned Holland, I spent some time in the man-cave installing some new shelves and relocating the puzzle I finished earlier this year. I like it. Mary decided that it was time to go to a big-box fabric and craft store in Norton Shores instead of getting back to work on the current index. We first stopped @ the Restore™ store here in GH to donate something, then traveled to the nearby big-box home center to return some unneeded items, Finally, we made it to Norton Shores for another return @ yet another big-box home center before we made it to the big-box fabric and craft store.

I thought we were done, but there was another return to be made in Muskegon. We deserved some adult refreshments by then, so we stopped in at our favorite watering hole for dinner before getting home.

For the most part, baseball news yesterday was not good. The Cubs won, 3 - 1 over the Angels, to sweep the two-game series. The Cubs host the 2nd place Cardinals in a match-up of N. L Central rivals tonight @ 8:05 p.m. The Cubs have a record of 71 - 41, good enough for a 12 game lead over those same Cardinals.

The Tigers didn't fare so well in Seattle last night, as they lost to the Mariners 1 - 3. That loss drops the Tigers to 61 - 53 in the A. L. Central, but they are still solidly in 2nd place. The Tigers are off today before traveling to Texas to play the Rangers on Friday night @ 8:05 p.m.

My beloved Red Sox suffered  another loss to the Yankees by a final score of 4 - 9. That loss in an A. L. East game, gives the Sox a 2.5 game deficit behind the now division-leading Blue Jays and leaves them 1.5 games bend the 2nd place Orioles. The Sox play the Yankees again tonight @ 7:10 p.m.

The Caps were off yesterday, They resume play tonight in the Midwest Leagues East against the Lansing, MI Lug Nuts in a home game @ 7:00 p.m. The Caps have a 4th place record of 21 - 22.

I have no specific plans beyond watering and highlighting for today. Mary has to put her nose to the proverbial grindstone and make significant progress on the index.

I'll be taking the morning safari with the intrepid one and then reading two days worth of the Grand Haven Tribune. I had planned to do that yesterday afternoon, but things got in the way. Ciao.
