Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be. It is just past 1:30 a.m. in "The City." We have a current temperature of 58°. We are expecting sunny skies today, but Friday there is a 50% chance of T-storms. Much the same for Saturday too. Once the sun rises at 7:01 this morning we will peak out in the mid 70s. Temperatures should be consistent until the first part of next week. Right now the forecast is calling for a rainy Labor Day holiday.

A quick sports report. Every team I follow lost yesterday. One highlight, the debut of rookie outfielder Jorge Soler. He hit a home run in his first at bat at Great America Ballpark in Cincinnati, just like his new teammate, Starlin Castro did in his rookie debut four years ago. Maybe, there is a tomorrow, if not a next year.

The southbound train rumbled by at 12:45 a.m.. The usual twin EMD GP 38 locomotives towing 20 covered hopper cars, one lone box car, and four of those dreaded black tank cars. No horn happy engineer either.

Wednesday, Mary and I journeyed to the big-box greenhouse for their end of season sale. Mary had already been to the big box everything store earlier while I was mowing the lawn. We picked up a few perennials for our ever expanding gardens and two hanging baskets to replace a couple that had hit the end of their lifespans. They won't last more than a month or two, but they will add some color. One of the perennials that we got is called Pink Elephant, a hibiscus. It will grow to about five feet tall, and in late summer and early fall, will produce large pink flowers. Now Mary just has to find the appropriate place to plant her. In order to ensure the success of all of the new arrivals, we also picked up some special soil at another garden center in Spring Lake, in which to plant everybody.

Once we got them home, I watered them to be sure that they wouldn't dry out before we could get them in the ground. That was enough for one day.

The sun will set at 8:27 p.m. tonight. That's all folks. Ciao.
