Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be in "The City" or its environs. It is just past 4:00 a.m., and our current temperature is 67°, which coincides with our overnight low. That means that after the sun rises at 6:58 a.m., and well before the sun sets at 8:37 p.m., the weather will be a mixed bag. A high of 83° will be accompanied by a 40% chance of scattered T-storms. That's roughly the same for Friday's forecast too. Right now the view out the Weather Window is calm and serene. Sugar the Weather Dog is sleeping soundly on her couch, and all is well.
Yesterday I finished my outdoor work. The porch stairs railing is now fully painted and next spring I'll give the entire railing a complete scraping and painting. Right now, it should overwinter nicely. The lawns of the palatial estate are mowed, and the new door sweep has been installed. All in all, a productive day. I even found time to play the girls and retype some music that I had typed and hand notated at least 25 years ago.
Sugar and I went for our morning walk to the newspaper office and after we returned, that's when I did all my outdoor work. Mary was hard at work, and when she discovered that her original lunch plans had been spoiled by mold, she switched to plan "B" for lunch. Sugar was overjoyed, as she got a tuna and a nearly empty cottage cheese container. Well, I guess that it was her second visit to a dog's version of paradise, as she had banana for breakfast.
Naturally, as lunch had been changed, Mary had to switch to plan "C" for dinner. A veggie burger and some corn from Sally's brother was a nice plan "C". Then it was back to work for both of us.
Today I have to edit Mary's previous work as she gets started on the next project. I finished highlighting the source material for that next job, so now it's up to Mary to do her part. I understand that another project is due off the wires on Friday. If so, I know what I'll be doing. I do have a couple of books ready for pick-up at the library, but those are of the quick read variety.
In sports, the boys in blue are hot and cold. They lost to the Giants 3 - 8 yesterday. Today at 4:05 p.m., they have to restart the game that was called on Tuesday night due to a soggy infield. The Giants protested losing a game in that fashion. According to MLB™ rules, the tarp malfunction that necessitated the calling of the game was within the control of the Cubs. Therefore, the Giants won the protest and the game will restart in the bottom of the 5th, with the boys leading 2 - 0. My beloved Red Sox fell to the Angels bye a score of 3 - 8. The Tigers behind Rick Porcello beat the Rays 6 - 0. Maybe they are not dead yet. The Caps overcame the Lug Nuts, 2 - 0.
So that's an old man's story, I'm glad you came tonight, ya see... Oops, I was channeling Harry Chapin's Corey's Coming there for a second. I like the song and it was the subject of a recent session with the girls. Otherwise, not much will be happening. Editing, walking, playing with the girls and that's about it. Ciao.
