Good morning GH. It is just past 4:00 AM in "The City" and the current temperature is 21 degrees under snowy skies as we head for a high of 26. Snow is expected to accumulate less than one inch by later today with an additional one to two inches accumulation on Monday. Additional snow showers have been forecast through Wednesday. I like walking with Sugar the Weather Dog, but I don't mind letting Sugar's dog walker take her out when the weather is like this.
Saturday, I went out long enough to get a fresh supply of eggs, more creamer for ...Tea Time, and yogurt for Sugar's breakfast. If we got nothing else from Sugar's training sessions, the suggestion that yogurt would be good for Sugar was a great gift. I also picked up the newspaper while I was out. Once home, I read the paper and then my Sous Dog and I made banana nut bread. I prepared the ingredients beforehand and cleaned up after I got the bread in the oven, and so the process went smoothly.
Mary says that this loaf was crispier than my past efforts, but she was the first in, and so the end piece was naturally crispier. Plus, she usually doesn't get to the loaf until it has been in a plastic bag for one to two days when it is naturally moister. Really the only thing different about this loaf versus others was that I went back to straight bananas and no apple sauce, so I have no basis for comparison. Oh well, that's what happens when one cook critiques the efforts of another.
Later on Saturday, I read some and Mary worked some, and then we were off to our favorite watering hole for dinner. We didn't walk, because I refuse to fall when I walk on slippery sidewalks. Am I old? No, just prudent. I have enough trouble walking on dry sidewalks sometimes.
Today I have to help Mary edit her latest project and then I can settle down and do nothing, something for which I am well qualified. Sugar will have been walked and she and I can then go to chair for the afternoon. She is a bit big for a lap dog, but as someone once said, the size of the dog doesn't matter. When they want to be a lap dog, they become one. I like it, but I have no idea what will happen when I am recuperating from my surgery. We'll work it out.
Otherwise, not much on tap for the day. I doubt that I will watch any football, as I don't really have a horse in the race. MSU won on Saturday and Michigan lost to Iowa, a team that NIU beat in their first game this season. Speaking of NIU, they are on their way to the MAC title game with their 11 - 0 record. Way to go Huskies. I figure that since Adam went to NIU, I can follow their efforts.
So no trains to report, and sunrise is just a few hours away at 7:49 AM as is ...Tea Time. A few more hours of sleep and I should be good to go. Ciao.
