Good early morning GH. It is just past 2:00 AM in "The City" and the current temperature is 44 degrees under cloudy skies, like I can see the clouds. The wind is blowing at a steady 20 MPH. That I can feel and hear. Our forecast high today is supposed to be 46. Right now the Weather Channel app is showing a 50% chance of showers for Monday. So far, like is often the case in GH, their forecast has not been accurate for our location.
Saturday Sugar the Weather Dog and I took a long walk in the AM before I set out for Holland. Even Sugar was having to fight the wind at the top of the hill. From her low vantage point, that is an interesting occurrence. We picked up the newspaper and then headed for home. Beyond the wind, the morning was uneventful.
When I got to Holland, I found a parking space under a sign that said "Customer Parking." I thought that I was indeed a customer in town, so they reserved it for me. What a country. Lunch was nice, and the beer was cold. Mary and I headed for home after a detour to the yarn store with Steph and Adam. He and I noted that the area where the store is located was once in the headlines as a renewal area in Holland.
Unfortunately, the renewal didn't take. As Adam noted an area has hit bottom when they get a Karate Dojo or something of that ilk. As it turns out, they are close, since a Yoga center is opening in a now shuttered cleaners. That's right across the street from a shuttered convenience store, and down the street from an upscale resale store that if you didn't know to look for it you'd never find it. Walk by traffic is nil. Mary suggested that a sign in the much busier downtown area encouraging people to visit this other shopping area would help.
There is a nice looking Italian restaurant and grocery store which is next to a store selling pretzels and nachos. There is also a coffee shop and a place serving breakfast all day. So if you could let people know that this area exists, it might work. But alas, the city in all its wisdom hasn't seen fit to provide that information to the people visiting downtown Holland.
Once we returned to GH, we stopped in for a quick one at our favorite watering hole. We'll be going back today for the Lions and Bears, oh my. Will Jay Cutler be back? Will the bears emerge as the clear leader in their weak division? Will the generally partisan Lions fans be in evidence? Stay tuned for further information.
That looks like all I have to say about that. Sunrise will be at 7:32 today and the fun starts all over. Ciao.
