Good morning or good evening wherever you may be, across the nation and across the world. It is just past 5:30 a.m. in "The City."

I'm going to keep this one short, by both desire and necessity, since the MI Dept. of Environmental Quality, Great Lakes, and Energy has issued an Action Day for Ottawa, County, MI and many other counties in MI for today, Mary's birthday. Sensitive groups, such as children and senior citizens should avoid being outdoors more than necessary. Residents are urged to avoid refueling vehicles, using gasoline-powered lawn equipment, and outdoor grills that use lighter-fluid. Of course, the actual burning of charcoal should also be avoided, as this also adds CO2, an Ozone Depleting Gas, to the atmosphere.

What can residents do to help alleviate the problem? Well, 75 years ago we could have curtailed the use of fossil-fuels, lead-based paint. and any activity that causes Greenhouse Gases to be put into the air. But alas, we didn't. Many of our politicians want to pretend that floods, droughts, wildfires, the melting of the permafrost in northern climes, and other never-before seen occurrences are just a hoaz! Plus, car-pooling, delaying or combining errands and using water-based paints would also be a good idea.

If you are a landscaper, the use of open fuel containers, the uses of gas-opowered string-trimmers, and chainsaws or other equipment are your livelihood, so...

At any rate, in the latest from The Weather Window One Report!, we have a current temperature of 68° under partly-cloudy skies as we rise towards today's high temperature of 80°, also under partly-cloudy skies. The sun will rise shortly @ 6:18 a.m. and set later @ 9:22 p.m.

We had planned to take the fur-children for a walk today, just as we did yesterday, but like us, senior-citizens that we are, are part of the group that shouldn't be outdoors more than necessary. So...

In baseball news, the 1st place Cubs won over the Pirates 8 - 3, for the sweep in a game that saw a Cubs' pitcher get RBIs, three home runs by position players, and more defensive highlights by the Cubs. Tonight's game @ Wrigley against the 5th place Reds begins @ 8:05 p.m. when Kyle Hendricks takes the mound.

My beloved 3rd place Red Sox needed extra innings to lose to the 1st place Dodgers, 4 - 7 last night. I tried in vain to stay awake, but I guess that I didn't miss much. Sigh. The Sox welcome the 4th place Blue Jays to Fenway tonight @ 7:10 p.m.

The 5th place Tigers defeated the 4th place Royals last night, 12 - 8, in a game that showcased the offense of the Tigers. Snicker. Tonight, the Tigers travel to Cleveland to face the Indians @ 7:10 p.m.

The 7th place West Michigan WhiteCaps, fell to the 2nd place Kane County Cougars yesterday, 2 - 7. Tonight, the Caps and the Cougars close out their series with a game @ 7:05 p.m.

We had a good day yesterday. I rode my bike, we walked the fur-children to the library to return a book, and had time to read and relax. Tonight, I'll be taking that same short walk to the library for session #2 of the Grand Haven Art Meetup. Hopefully, more people will be in attendance. Ciao.
