Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be, across the nation and across the world. It is just past 4:00 a.m. in "The City."

As I reread my blog from yesterday, I realized that I'd spent so much time going down the YouTube™ wormhole, that I hadn't done my regular weather report from the Greater Grand Haven Weather Center, here in the Weather Office/art studio,/music room/ my Fortress of Solitude, a report that I that may decide to call The Weather Window One Report! We shall see, as that takes a lot of typing.

At any rate, the current temperature outside the WW is 70° as we slowly drop to our overnight low of 62°. After the sun rises into cloud-free skies today  @ 6:18 a.m., we are going to see sunny-skies and a high temperature of 79° before the sun sets this evening @ 8:23 p.m.

Speaking of the sun setting, the sun set on my beloved, 50 - 42, 3rd place Red Sox last night, as they lost to the 61 - 33, 1st place L.A. Dodgers, 2 - 11. Boston's $45 million man, Chris Sale, 3 - 9, said, "I am a liability right now." Ya think? He says he is grinding it out, giving it his all, etc. Unfortunately, the Dodgers are a solid and strong 1st place team which took advantage of every mistake Sale made last night. Also etc. Too many baseball cliches and too few positives.

In trade news, the Red Sox acquired starting pitcher Andrew Cashner from the Orioles for players whose names we know, but who are likely to soon be forgotten, along with some "Cash Considerations." Cashner will take the role of 5th starter for the Sox. With the way Chris Sale is pitching, Cashner may quickly move up in the rotation. Fortunately, the Sox will send David Price, 7 - 2, to the mound against the Dodgers tonight @ 7:05 p.m.

The still woeful, 28 - 59, 5th place Tigers, lost to the not quite as bad, 32 - 61, 4th place Royals last night, 1 - 4. Matthew Boyd, pitching for the Tigers, recorded 10 Ks, but he also issued 4 walks, and so things never looked bright for the Tigers. The Tigers and the Royals play this afternoon @ 2:15 p.m.

In better MLB™ news, the 49 - 43, 1st place Cubs, easily defeated the 44 - 47, 4th place Pirates yesterday afternoon, 10 - 4. A 7 run 1st inning, highlighted by a 2 RBI single by starting and winning pitcher Jon Lester, coupled with a 3 run home-run by catcher Willson Contreras were all the Cubs needed to ice the game. With the wind blowing out towards right-field, the Cubs hammered the Pirates starting pitcher, Jordan Lyles, who took the loss.

The Cubs hope to rest Contreras in the 2nd half of the season and give back-up catcher Victor Caratini more playing time. The Cubs closed out yesterday's game with a picture-perfect double-play, executed by SS Javier Baez, 2nd baseman Addison Russell, and 1st baseman Anthony Rizzo. The Cubs send Jose Quintana, 6 - 7, to the mound this afternoon to go for the sweep over the Pirates @ 2:20 p.m. EDT.

Finally, the 9 - 13, 7th place West Michigan WhiteCaps, tripped up the 14 - 8, 2nd place Kane County Cougars last night, 7 - 4. The Caps and the Cougars play again tonight @ 6:00 p.m.

I spent some time in the kitchen yesterday, making another batch of Mary's favorite, vegan Italian meatballs. I think I've got them down now. We had some for dinner with one of Mary's self-proclaimed "Down and Dirty" pasta sauces over chickpea-based penne pasta.

We went walkabout to the Farmer's Market yesterday morning, towing and pushing Mary's new shopping cart. With its 8 wheels and a lightweight design, it made bringing home our purchases much easier. We made a stop at a garage sale and picked up an old bow-saw for garage art. It turns out that the person holding the garage sale knew of our house, as her sister had once lived here.

Along the way, I took some pix. Here they are in random order.

Our crumbling, but industrially attractive coal tipple, shooting up.
A more distant view of the coal tipple.
On a caboose near the tipple.
As always, the Farmer's Market was crowded on a Saturday morning.
A view of the tipple from the backside.
While we stopped at the garage sale. I shot this pic of MMRR EMD GP 38-2 locomotives 2019 and 2025.
They were towing many of the oft mentioned DBTCs.
These were the DWTCs.
A lone GTC.
Lat evening, before dinner, we were sitting on the front porch when we heard a helicopter flying over GH and the Tri-Cities. It turns out that a man had barricade himself inside a home in nearby Norton Shore around 1:00 p.m. yesterday afternoon. He finally surrendered to authorities after extended negotiations around 11:00 p.m. last night. No one was injured in this nearly 9 hour event.

Today, we have nothing planned and that's fine by me. There is baseball to watch, art to be worked on, music to play, and retirement to be continued. Ciao.
