Good morning GH. Since it is just after 6:00 a.m., I feel safe in saying good morning versus my usual openings.
We had a great day yesterday. Sugar happily chewed a bone in the "Bone Zone", Mary got in some gardening, though she is still waiting on consistently warmer temperatures to plant her Violas. After some leaf blowing, raking, and bagging, I spent some time in the man-cave working on the cold frame. In short, we were all happy.
In what may seem like a strange turnabout, I used several of the items that I "inherited" from Adam. The leaf blower was an old one that he didn't need anymore, one of the drill motors and a belt sander I used on the cold frame were also from Adam. It felt good to be able to apply power to my projects. Mary added some of the yard art items that we inherited too. Like I said in my previous blog, now it is up to Steph and Adam to clear up our clutter at some point in the future. All good.
I took some time to rearrange the man-cave from Adam's original layout to suit my latest whims. I like my new arrangement, but unlike the old days, I don't care if it gets changed later. Such is the stuff of life.
Adam recently said that life sometimes throws you a curve ball and so you have to adapt. I find that to be absolutely true.
Take the recent NCAA Final Four™. MSU, a seventh seed, was an improbable participant in the Final Four™, and yet, there they were. Duke was just too much for them, but just getting there was an accomplishment for a seventh seed. Kentucky's Wildcats were expected to have a perfect season, that is until they were "upset" by Wisconsin. A true upset, or a team that was overdue for a loss? Kentucky just managed to squeak past Notre Dame in their previous game. You be the judge.
Tonight, the boys in blue begin their quest for a pennant once again. New and old faces are being combined into a team that is expected by some to excel and others to fall flat. As a long suffering fan, I'm hoping for excellent, but I'd be satisfied with a playoff shot.
The Tigers "Ace", Justin Verlander is opening the season on the D.L. Miguel Cabrera is rounding back into form, but he is coming off of an ankle injury and subsequent surgery that will slow him once again. Plus, he isn't getting any younger in baseball years. My beloved Red Sox are a mystery at this point. I'll be taking a wait and see attitude with them.
Today promises to be a great day too. Mary made a nachos for dinner last night and they were great. Tonight, she is planning baked beans following a new recipe/method. Her recent successes suggest that they should be good, but once again, I'll take a wait and see approach.
So once the sun rises at 7:20 a.m., and long before it sets at 8:15 p.m., we'll have cloudy skies and a high of 51°. Hopefully the cold days and nights are going to be a thing of the past very soon. Ciao.
