Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be. It is just past 10:30 p.m. in "The City."

I just couldn't wait. I was ready to blog and I had the time as I listened to the Cubs' game in preparation for listening to my beloved Red Sox. That being said, I guess it is logical to begin with the somewhat abbreviated sports report of today/tonight.

The 8 - 8 Cubs with Kyle Hendricks on the mound in their first trip to Colorado to face the 11 - 9 Rockies are up 12 - 4 as the Rockies at bat in the bottom of the seventh. Kyle Schwarber drove one over the wall to put icing on the cake as the Cubs batted around in the top of the inning. The top of the Cubs' batting order and their big boppers are feasting on Rockies pitching. The Cubs and the Rockies play again tomorrow night @ 7:10 p.m., with Yu Darvish taking the mound.

My beloved Red Sox sport a MLB best 16 - 2 record as they take the field later tonight @ 10:05 p.m. against the 9 - 10 Oakland As. I just took a quick glance, and the Sox are currently tied @ three, with theSox @ bat. The Sox play again tomorrow night @ 9:05 p.m.

The 8 - 9 Tigers took 10 innings, but with the aid of a walk-off home run from the bat of JaCoby Jones, they defeated the 3 - 14 Kansas City Royals, 3 - 2. The Tigers are moving on up as long as they can play teams like the Orioles and the Royals. The Tigers once again face the Royals @ Comerica Park @ 1:10 tomorrow afternoon.

The 9 - 3 Caps are still on a roll as they completed their game tonight in the MWL East with a 5 - 4 win over the 3 - 9 Great Lakes Loons. That gives the Caps sole possession of 1st place with a one game lead over the Dayton Dragons. The Caps and the Loons play tomorrow afternoon @ 2:05 p.m.

A great day for Ginger and I to do some trainspotting today. At 8:34 a.m., EMD GP 38-2 locomotive #2019, shown here, was seen heading south.

That locomotive was towing 15 CHCs, two DBTCs, and five DWTCs. Later in the early afternoon, Ginger and I got quite the surprise as we espied that same locomotive heading north with another locomotive in tandem. However, this was not the old familiar #2057. No, it was an entirely new locomotive, at least to us, #2025. As of now, I cannot find any information about her. I can only surmise that she is new to the stable, but that she looks very much like # 2019 and #2057. At any rate, in tow were 24 CHCs, and one DBTC.

Mary and I took some pictures around the PE that included our new Cubs Whirligig that now hangs from the eaves of our garage. I also took some pictures of the fading snow and the reemerging flowers too.

A nice juxtaposition against the fading snow cover.

The snow on the deck is hanging in there, but like the Wicked Witch of the North, it is melting.

These flowers are called Glory of the Snow and they were snow covered just three days ago. They are also showing up in the vast lawns of the PE.

Quite a change from a few short days ago.

I finally resolved my cell phone issue by having the carrier install a new SIM card in my old flip-phone and transferring my number back to that phone. I need a new battery, but that is on order and will be here Monday.

We traveled to The Mall to pick up new shorts for my summer uniform. Maybe not tomorrow, and maybe not the next day, but soon, I'll be wearing them.

We stopped @ Stan's on the way home. When we got here, Mary decided it was time to try a new recipe for dinner. Her choice? Vegan Mongolian Soy Curls over rice. This is a new recipe that turned out so good, that Mary already has plans to add it to her personal cookbook. I have to agree. its a keeper.

Today's weather was very nice. We made it to 52° under sunny skies, just enough of a tease for me to want spring and my summer uniform even more. Tomorrow, the high will reach 51°, or more, and by Sunday, the high is expected to reach 59°! However, those highs will not last as we drop back into the upper 40s and low 50s for several more days. The sun will rise @ 6:53 a.m. and set later @ 8:34 p.m.

I have my Irish Jam session tomorrow afternoon while Mary awaits the carpet repairman. He has to come over and fix the snag caused by Ginger's bling a few weeks ago. Mary can get to work on the index too. I am still reading my latest book and still liking it. Ciao.
