Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be. It is just past 3:00 a.m. in "The City."
Not much happened yesterday. I returned the book I was reading because it was strikingly similar to The Nightingale. It was a nice story, but I felt as though I had been there and done that. In that book's stead, I started another book entitled Robicheaux, by James Lee Burke. So far, I am liking this one.
We did go out to run some errands late yesterday and accomplished all that we had planned in addition to buying some new flowers for Mary's "Flower Room." However, it turns out that I will have to contact the manufacturer of my current cellphone for a replacement, which takes forever to boot up and the battery charge doesn't last very long. One more thing that I don't want to do.
Sports news yesterday was .500. The 7 - 8 Cubs once again had their game against the 10 - 7 Cardinals called due to inclement weather. That makes it two out of three scheduled games. As of now, Wednesday's game has been rescheduled for today.
The 6 - 9 Tigers game was a seesaw affair against the 5 - 13 Orioles as the Tigers needed another home run from Miggy, it was his 35th birthday, and a home run, his first of the season, from catcher John Hicks. That was before the Orioles tied the game and before a walk-off home run off the bat of Dixon Machado, only the second of his career, sealed the deal in the bottom of the ninth. The Tigers and the Orioles are scheduled to play again today @ 1:20 a.m
My beloved 15 - 2 Red Sox are having a great West Coast road trip, as they once again hammered the 13 - 5 Angels, this time, 9 - 0. Sox Pitcher Rick Porcello is now 4 - 0 after hurling 6 strong innings and the Sox' bats are continuing to stay hot. The Sox and the Angels play again tonight @ 10:07 p.m.
The 7 - 3 Caps lost to the 6 - 7 Bowling Green Hot Rods, 2 - 6. That loss ties the Caps with Mary's MWL East favorite, the Dayton Dragons. The Caps and the Hot Rods are scheduled to play again tonight @ 6:35 p.m.
We have a current temperature of 34° as we try to reach today's high of 47 sunny degrees. Some melting began yesterday and we hope to see that continue. Still, it will only be in the low 50s by Saturday and we will bounce around up and down in the low 50s and upper 40s for several more days according to the forecast from the NWS. The sun will rise today @ 6:56 a.m. and set @ 8:31 p.m.
We have no specific plans for today. Indexing activities mostly, and that's about it. Ciao.
